dolariUludag is Turkish.
With money in my pocket, miraculously working parking lights and a day to waste, I hit the Chinese Buffet and the Alamo Drafthouse to see Red Dragon. I got there an hour early to see what kind of opening feature they'd have.
Sadly, it was a collection of cereal commercials from the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Three things stand out in my mind:
1) Sugar was not a dirty word before the 80s. Sugar Pops were "Shot full of sugar." The word SUGAR was twice the size of any other word on cereal boxes back then.
2) The Monkees did commercials for Post cereals. Most of them involved driving the Monkee-mobile to the salt flats of Wherever and eating breakfast there. Another was about waking up, having breakfast, and going back to bed. Davy Jones, pours sugar in his bowl first, adds his cereal, adds milk...puts ANOTHER bowl on top, and flips the whole thing over.
3) There was a disclaimer on the screen that said "This short is not meant to make fun of anyone other than the person being made fun of." Then, on the screen, we saw a picture of someone wearing a shirt, with his FEET coming out of his sleeves....and how he loved cereal so much despite his handicap that he didn't mind spilling it over him. It was rather creepy, and had the guy SINGING of all things. TRhe wsoundtrack was off, though, becuase the Drafthouse was piping in music on it's own. It...was creepy.
Beofre Red Dragon, we got trailers for Cannibal, The Musical (by Trey PArker of all people) and the Ted Bundy Movie.
The movie itself was good. My main problem with the movie was (1) I figured out the whole thing as soon as I saw the home compilation video, (2) Edward Norton was WAY too young to be Will Graham (3) Too many "Hannibal as Freddy" shots. And the last scene PISSED ME OFF.
But, despite those flaws, the movie works REALLY well - better than Hannibal...but not as good as Silence of the Lambs.
When I got home, I saw this.

Today, everyone but me was sick...I've had a quiet day, reinstalling a video card, waiting for the rain.
I bought a VERY bad video card back in 2000, and it never worked. I found it, plugged it into the new motherboard, and it's working like a charm.
Woo!
And then, as I was typing this, LJ decided it would update on it's own...WIERD.
AWFW is updated - the last time we'll see Andrea at 7. First third of the story should be over next episode.
