Delivery is not a bad idea... what about newspapers again? More to the point, could you at least stay where you are if you paid 'em some rent? ...so you could get an under-par job for now to avoid moving to SA and then get your own place when you get a good job. In that case, you may be able to pick and choose more, too, coz your income requirement wouldn't be as high, temporarily. MHO is still: concentrate on liberal places... bookstores, etc.
