So, in the last month that I've been taking a leave-of-absence from the comic, I've had a chance to sit down and read my own comics.
Boy does Closetspace suffer from some crap art. It's my second comic, and it shows how rushed it is. One episode in particular gets on my nerves.
AWFW has a few clunkers, too.
So, here's a question for you. Which 12 panels of both series should I redraw? (6 of AWFW, 6 of CS). The ones with the most votes will get redrawn.

FRIDAY
This weekend was pretty much a waste of time. I moseyed on down to SA, leaving at 6:00, mailing out a package, checking my PO Box, worming my way down to San Antonio...bored beyond bellief. Got in, got some food, and basically...watched TV most of the night. I did go see Star Trek Nemesis, though.
The Good - EVERYTHING. Dear god, I loved this movie. I've thought that all the TNG movies, except for Generations, have lacked HUMANITY and genuine emotion. This one just oozes it, between Picard and just about everyone else. It's not cross-reciprocated (is that a word?), though. You see genuine emotion between Picard and Data, and Picard and Riker, but not between Riker and Data. It's Picard's movie. The ship battle was no Mutara nebula, but it'sup there. Nothing like hearing the words "Reverse Thrust" said with such spite that you KNOW that Shinzon knows he's not all that hurt.
The Bad - B4. Or B9. Or whatever they're calling him. The whole B-plot storyline of B4 and Data is interesting...but I saw that he would be the Katra of this movie the moment Data decided to jump across to Shinzon's Ship.
The Ugly - The Enterprise E still looks like a turkey, to me. The D looked like a fish. :)
Final Rating - 4 1/2 stars out of 5. I loved this movie.
On a side note...Harry Knowles review of this movie was just awful. I have no problem with him not liking the movie...but the language he used and the comparisons were just atrociuosly venom filled puke-driven hatred of this movie. It's side when you look at things on the net and realize it's now "proving how much you like something by telling people how much you hate it."
SATURDAY
I did nothing. Not a thing. I was invited, but I waited on something else which didn't pan out.
SUNDAY
Again, I wasted my day. Again, my day flatlined waiting for someone to get back to me about maybe doing something that evening. Yawn.
MONDAY
Today made up for Fri-Sun. I woke up, and took off. Hopefully, there will be more to Christmas than sitting and waiting. I went to go see Steph (who I was waiting on) finally, and got dressed for my filing. We talked a good while...but I started feeling bad there.
My stomach had decided to digest a few dozen pebbles and a large rock. I felt it would go away. About 3:30, I walked into the EEOC pffice in San Antonio. By this time, I felt sweaty, hot, stomach hurting, heart pounding. I don't know who was talking in that meeting, but it surely wasn't me. I was too busy thinking "Is it hot in here?" The investigator must've noticed because he asked me if I was alright.
Eventually, the investigator, who didn't even want to take my case, took my complaint and officially filed it. He told me I simply wasn't protected under Title VII in Texas, and that they just don't take TG cases. After I showed him the precidents I had, he relented and took the filing. He basically laid out what would happen. They'd file it and send it to their lawyers. With the precidents I've given, the lawyers would see if they applied here. The precidents are all 9th Circuit Court of Appeals cases. Texas is under the 5th Circuit. And they DON'T play well with others. More than likely, once the filing was in, Harte Hanks wouldbe notified (YAY!), the lawyers would look it over....and more than likely not find discrimination under Title VII under 5th Circuit Opinions. At that point I can sue Harte Hanks myself. Which I don't plan to do.
In Texas I have a snowball's cahnce in Texas of winning a discrimination lawsuit based on being TS. I would never win. This filing, it was a job to get the filing even reported. The important thing here was to get it filed, to notify Harte Hanks that I filed, and to hopefully kinda scare them into thinking "You can't just fire a TS for being TS without them complaining to someone over it."
I will prolly lose this fight, but I left Harte Hanks a nice little scar.
In some other news, Adecco is STILL hiring phone techs. Leeza has let Adecco know she won't work for a place that discriminates against TSes. And now there's a listing in the paper for an Adecco rep for Harte Hanks. I wonder if there was some fallout from having my rep stick up for me.
I left the EEOC feeling pretty good, despite being told "You're not gonna win this." I got some food and started the drive home. About halfway there my stomach remembered it had a rock to digest, along now with Seafood. It hit around New Braunsfels. By Kyle, I was not only sick as a dog, hotter'n'hell, digesting boulders and heart-a-thumping, but I was now feeling almost like passing out. I pulled into a rest area, and literally just fell over.
I had this wierd dream where someone was trying to talk to me, telling me that we only had a few more miles to go and that I should keep going. I happily ignored them man.
I woke up about ten minutes later, feeling MUCH better. I checked my PO box, got home, and fell VERY VERY asleep a few hours later, still feeling like I had rocks in my stomach.
TUESDAY
Another nothing day. ::yawn:: Tomorrow LOTR. Yay.

That boggles my mind.
Date: 2002-12-18 04:25 am (UTC)I suppose I really should learn more a bout law, though, because I thought Title VII was a federal law and that federal law either applied or it didn't. None of this applies there not here.
Sounds like they might be pulling the "no precedent = not legal" bit.

Title VII applies EVERYWHERE, it's the interpretation of that law that differs from court to court.

Date: 2002-12-18 11:07 pm (UTC)There are PLENTY of "Tasha's World" panels I'm not happy with, but I plan to leave 'em as they are, simply to show my progression from crap amateur to whatever skill level I may eventually gain (I may actually grow to simply "rank amateur!" ^_^ ). Unlike George Lucas, I feel history is important, warts and all... ^_~
As for the rest, it sounds like you've had a rough weekend. I wish you luck on the Harte Hanks case. ^
