So here I am trying to piece together an interview outfit for Thursday. Most of my girl stuff is still hidden away in this house somewhere...and mostof what Steph gave me this last time are sweats.

So I look and look and look and can't find anything that looks professional. And, dammit, I need shoes for this interview.

So I decide to hunt for my old forbidden clothes. And I find them. Safe and sound under the stairs! First place I looked!

So I tear through my stuff, and I find my interview outfit! Everything I need is there, and not only that, I now have an actual honest to goodness blouse I can wear instead of my One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish t-shirt.

That has been a job tradition for me since time immemorial. My old interview outfit was a black blazer, black skirt, black tights and low black pumps. But I never had a blouse to wear with it. Ever. So I'd grab my old black One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish shirt, wear it backwards and hope no one noticed. :)

When I went to find work at Dell, I had a new outfit: A purple dress with black flowers, blck tights and black low pumps. Still no blouse. On went the One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish shirt...backwards and hope no one noticed. :)

Again, I wore that to the ill fated Apple Interview.

And the ill fated Verizon interview.

It's kind of a tradition with me...one I really don't want to part with, but this new black blouse looks so much better.

My pumps, though, are virtually disintegrated. They'll pop back into shape after a day of wearing them, I'm sure, but they've finally gone to shoe heaven. Time to get new shoes, it seems. Or I could just find another black permanent marker and hope for the best. :)

Going through my old boxes were like reliving old memories. Since I've moved down here, I've had to wear my boy clothes. I hate that. A lot. But my girl stuff is NOT allowed under any circumstances here. So this means I've been wearing the same two pairs of jeans, the same three t-shirts since SEPTEMBER. And we wont' talk about the only pair of canvas shoes I own that passed their expiration date last millenium.

But now, I'll be able to express my identity again, even if it's only for five days.

But once I'm out of this house.

Once I leave this place.

Once I escape.

I WILL NEVER LOSE MY IDENTITY AGAIN.
