Celtic cross configuration.
1 - 10 of Swords
2 - Knight of Coins (Yes, I know Coins are Pentacles - I learned coins before pentacles, so it's force of habit :) )
3 - King of Coins
4 - The Sun
5 - 5 of Coins
6 - 9 of Swords
7 - 8 of Swords (Reversed)
8 - Ace of Cups
9 - Justice
10 - Death (Reversed)
10a - The Star
10b - 7 of Swords
10c - 7 of Cups
One card reading
Me - 7 of Swords
Mom - 8 of Swords
Dad - 2 of Swords
I identify with the Page of Coins
I don't have the cards right in front of me anymore, and it's just the basic card number and suit, so I can't pull specific stuff off the card itself....
1 - 10 of Swords - The general atmosphere in life is a sudden misfortune, ruin of plans, defeat, failure and tears. (Spot on)
2 - Knight of Coins - The opposing force is trustworthy, a heavy and dull outlook, patience, accepting of responsibilities, an animal lover, a nature lover, the coming/going of a matter. (Not sure - Erin's had a much different interpretation, but damned if I can't remember it!)
3 - King of Coins - The creator of the situation is a chief of industry or a banker, a reliable person, a married man, solid, steadiness. (A Chief of Industry? Michael Dell? Reliable Person? Dad? Dean? They all make sense here...although my troubles began with Dean).
4 - The Sun - The recent past was satisfaction, accomplishment, success, love, joy, engagement or a happy marriage. (If recent past means "Just before the situation in #5 or #1," then right on....although #5/1 has been going on for a while now)
5 - 5 of Coins - The current situation is loneliness, destitution, loss of possessions, poor health, despair due to spiritual impoverishment (Definately on all counts)
6 - 9 of Swords - The current path of your future is suffering, doubt, desolation, illness, injury, death of a loved one, suspicion, cruelty, misery, loss, dishonesty, pitilessness, slander (Considering the way things are going, this is no surprise)
7 - 8 of Swords (Reversed) - Your hopes and fears are for relaxation, new beginnings possible, freedom (I've never understood what is meant by "Hopes AND fears"...but I am hoping for freedom, and new beginnings)
8 - Ace of Cups - The thoughts of those around you are the beginning of love, joy, beauty, or good health (The Tangent Family loves me, even if the biological ones are iffy)
9 - Justice - What I want is harmony, balance, equality, righteousness, virtue, honor, advice, a considerate person (Damned straight)
10 - Death (Reversed) - The Final Outcome on the current path is stagnation, immobility, slow changes, a narrow escape, cheating death (We were unclear what this meant...so we expanded on it)
10a - The Star - Hope, faith, inspiration, optimism, insight, spiritual love, pleasure, balance
10b - 7 of Swords - An unwise attempt, unreliability, betrayal, insolence, spying, possible failure
10c - 7 of Cups - A long-worked imagination, unable to choose one's direction in life, illusory success
We both agreed that the reversed death meant a slow change, and that the star meant insight here. The 7 of Swords meant betrayal, and the 7 of cups meant "dreaming of a solution, but not implementing it." So, I will have an insight or idea, which will be sabotaged (glares at a female parental unit) and then I will spend my time dreaming of a better life, or a solution that I won't implement easily (yes, I do a lot of wishing, and waiting for the "key" to present itself).
Me - 7 of Swords - An unwise attempt, unreliability, betrayal, insolence, spying, possible failure (I am betrayed by people around me who affect my life greatly...Erin did a one card reading while I wasn't looking and picked that card)
Mom - 8 of Swords - An abandonment of one's current path in life, disappointment in love, misery and repining without cause, desire to leave on'e success for something higher (We said "Bondage." Mother is wrapped up in a world of her creation - trapped by her matriarchy)
Dad - 2 of Swords - Well balanced emotions are needed, indecision, trouble ahead, in need of direction (We translated this as opposing viewpoints coming together...which fits. My father loves my mother even if he disagrees with a lot of her stuff....)
Erin then set out all the page cards, and asked me to pick one that I identified with (from just the picture). The Page of Pentacles - Scholar, generosity, kindness, a careful person, learning new ideas/opinions. I dig that.
