Monday
Monday we went to move Dean's stuff. After an initial shock, I was secondly shocked to find that Dean had packed very little. Dammit. Erin says that Dean and I are glacial. Yes, we are glacial. But of someone was to ask me to help them move, I'd expect SOME of the stuff to be already packed. Any ways, we watched Cowboy Bebop, Sealab 2021 and Aqua Teen Hunger force. That last one broke Erin. She was completely and totally off-kilter from that. PRolly had something to do with seeing a spider with a disposable diaper.
"Show 'em you love people!" "Don't you get it?! I LOVE THE LIQUID INSIDE PEOPLE!"
We moved to Dean's new apartment and moved the big stuff into the apartment...then, to pass time, since Erin didn't need to go home right away, she broke out her tarot deck, and did a reading for me, which you can read in an earlier entry. She then did a very muddied one for Dean. And then I did one for Erin. Dunno if the power exists in the person giving the reading or getting the reading, but either way, I think I did good. I either made the cards do what I wanted in getting the reading, or giving the reading.
Erin left for home and Dean and I went back to the old apartment...picking up some Vanilla Cokes on the way home. Vanilla Coke does not exist in San Antonio. Vanilla Coke is good. VERY good. But I'd rather have a regular Coke. Or a Coke II. Or an RC. Maybe a Vanilla RC. Mmmmmm.....
Alas, New Girl never showed up to bitch at us. That was a relief, but also kinda sad. Erin was there. MAybe that woulda made a difference in how the day went.

Tuesday
I left home, with two more Vanilla Cokes in hand and went home. I also went home with a few bits and pieces of computer parts I had given to Dean that he really didn't need. One being a really crappy AGP video card I bought a few years ago. REALLY crappy. But, functional. I switched out the motherboard to finally get a true K62-433Mhz machine...After swapping the board, I restarted the machine and got VMM errors everywhere. I FDisked and reinstalled Win98, but never got past the setup (SETUP.EXE has cause a General PRotection Fault in IDGEN.DLL). I restarted the install with another video card (PCI card will work on that board unless it's over 16 colors). This time I got all the way through, and then got VMM errors left and right. I finally tried installing Windows 95. I got all the way through using the PCI card. Replaced the AGP card after install and KEerash.
So I get pissed. I put the old motherboard in reinstall Windows. this time, though, it decides for the first time in forever that the onboard USB thingy is useful and starts that up instead of my PCI USB card. The next few hours are spent trying to fix THAT nightmare. I finally get it ALL working with another FDisk, Reinstall.
Thankfully, my new setup has a separate hard drive for Windows, Programs and Documents, so I can FDisk Windows to my hearts content.
I FINALLY get the machine running before bed....
Wednesday
I begin reinstalling my programs, when I notice that one of my backup CDs is no longer reading a file. No problem, it's my Windows 98 SE backup, I can always make a new one. I try to install Microsoft Office for Word, Frontpage and Excel. It crashes. Repeatedly. Turns out the OFFICE1.CAB file is damaged. So I look carefully at the CD. There's no scratch on one side, but the actual label has a gouge in it through the plastic. I'm sure that's where the file was, dammit. After Office crashed, I restarted and got a crap COMCTL32.DLL will not start error. Windows goes bazoo. FDisk format reinstall and I manage to get everything BUT Office to install. I install Frontpage at least, but finding out what files didn't work, and getting them from Zaecus. After it alls seemed to work, I rebooted and got that damned COMCTL error again. This time I installed Windows 98 OVER the existing install and it fixed the problem.
For now.
Thursday
After some checking around, it turns out that Dean still has a...er..."backup" of my Office CD, so that is no longer an issue. What is an issue is seeing what has happened to that CD and the other one that has failed. The Office one is that gouge looking thing. The second CD, though, was a CD-R that had a microscopic hole in it (Hold it up to a light, and you could see the light shine through the hole). A THIRD CD has the same error, in roughly the same place, so now I'm going to go through al my CDs. I wish I hadn't trashed my Cleopatra DVDs, or left my ST:TMP DVD at ERin's because I Think my DVD is gouging this hole in the CDs. Dammit.
At least mot of the stuff I've lost is easily obtainable or backups existed.....
I've decided on some more stuff for Carrie.
What we've seen so far is Carrie at 40, and an outfit that looks "nice" for a picture. I've always maintained the Carrie's dressing style is "Very Conservative Drag Queen." She's a TS brought up by wild Drag Queens, so while she won't wear queeny stuff (No sequins or feathers anywhere in her wardrobe) she does have an odd dress sense. I kinda experimented with that on the front page to Closetspace - having Carrie in a buckskin skirt/jacket and tye-dye, but I've never really been able to hit on other stuff she'd wear without it being outlandishly scary, or not crazy enough.
I have, however, found a solution. And it's been staring at me since 1989.
It's a type of dress I like to call "Japanese Teenager Manga Fashions!" Outlandish clothing that isn't really all that scary, but definitely odd. Belted mini-dresses with fur accents and Ankle boots. Poofy skirts with oversize jackets that have names of candies on them. Sundresses with pumpkin patterns on them and the word "Pumpkin" in a really odd place. Tee-shirts and jeans, where the T-shirt has some really non-sequitur word on it like 'Squirrel" or "Happy" or "Sniffy" and jeans with flowers and minimalistic Sanrio animals on them. Calf boots, tights, fanny packs, driving gloves...accessory nightmare. She passes, but sticks to like a sore thumb at the same time.
Hee hee...Carrie wears weird stuff. And while the series goes along she'll calm down her dress sense, the only non-work clothes she has that ISN'T nuts is a Bajoran uniform from Star Trek. And we WILL see her in it, eventually.
I'm willing to take fashion ideas for Carrie. Remember, she's a cross dresser, not a drag queen, but her taste has been slanted by living among the Drag Queens for a good long while. :)
As for Allison, some people in the know are telling me that she looks a lot like the early pics I drew of me. I don't think so (her hair is limper than mine is)...but I can see it.
Here's that Tarot reading I did back in February with the NES "Taboo" game. I think the cart and the cards work just as well, since it's all about the mental manipulation of randomness (Manipulating cards into an order, or manipulating random numbers in an NES CPU).
