SATURDAY
I got hot wings, first of all. Always gotta have trip food! Took the long way back to San Antonio...via the old stagecoach road. I hardly make this trip during the day, but saw lots of historical markers I never saw before thanks to driving at 3 in the morning. When I make this tip, if I'm thirsty, I usually pull over at a church and get water from their hose...but this time, I wanted to see a cemetery AND get water. I was thinking that cemetery was bounded by the Camino Real at one point, and it's not, darnit...but...I did see a giant huge water pump. One pump of the pump and I had 64 ounces of water right from the ground. After making sure there weren't any fish, chemicals or evilness in it, it made the trip home with me.
SUNDAY
I went to go see Steph and Hattie at the UTSA Library. If you ever want to feel really old, go to your local University. Then ask for directions because you're lost.
We had a good time, though. I did a few tarot readings for Steph and Hattie. I'm getting good at it now, it seems. We talked for a long while, and tried to get a hold of Jenni to go and do something that night. We ended up not doing anything because (1) She was taking her boyfriend out to the airport, and (2) I would need to drive at night...completely forgetting that (3) I had the 4x4 which works now and I could have driven at night. Oops.
Good time was had by all.
MONDAY
Dad and I worked on the truck...sorta. The two main things wrong with the truck are the lights and the brakes. The breaks go almost all the way down before actually breaking...and the night lights don't work right.
First dad was gonna buy a plug for the breaks - we bought a plug that looks like it would fit...but didn't. So instead we broke the brake line to the tire and hammered the line shut. Works better than it ever did before...but I'll feel safer with a working brake, instead of a better working brake that's jury rigged to work. We didn't need to bleed the brakes, and gave up on the electrical system.
We had dinner and dad needed to call his accountant, and instead called Jenni instead...who called right back after he hung up on her. This turned into a night on the town, just showing the sights and stupid Jenn trivia of the city. We really didn't go anywhere, but I got a waist cincher and a pretty dress outta the whole thing.
That night, I FINALLY finished Drawing Down the moon, bringing my total number of books read this year to...two.
That's really pathetic, I know...but...well...I got stuck on two chapters in the book back in February. One chapter about Feminism and another about Ecology. The Feminism chapter pissed me off and I went months without cracking the spine on that book. The ecology chapter bored me to tears...but it's done. Finally. I've moved onto the third book which is a lot more interesting so far. I doubt I'll break double digits before the year is out, but we'll just say this is a bad reading year.
(Ad why didn't I get to another book while I as pissed at DDtM? Easy - I can't pick up another book while eI'm reading one currently. I still have the Spiral Dance to get through, a book of Alfred Hitchcock mysteries and The PHantom Tollbooth all from Christmas 2001!)
TUESDAY
I got up late, and made it out of the house by 3PM...no delaying tactics, no guilt, no nothing. Wow. I picked up Steph at UTSA took her home and chatted about AWFW till 5:15. Then I got some Popeye's Fried Chicken and took off to Austin. And not a moment too soon. By the time I got back, the sun was definitely setting by the time I got into Webberville, and by the time I got home, it was REALLY dark. Thankfully my headlights work...none of the other lights were, through. I got in late, and just recovered from the weekend. Tried to get through a weeks worth of web pages and gave up. :) Ah well....
WEDNESDAY
I had planned to sit down and write the Week in Review on then...but the folks here were expecting a call that never came. No problem though - it allowed me to draw like mad for CS...I did the whole issue in about four hours. It sucks...but hopefully it'll be the last one to suck in a LONG time.
THURSDAY
Started on the next AWFW. Cleaned house like MAD.
FRIDAY
I actually spent all day drawing and inking two panels for AWFW. They're part of the more "Dynamic" action I'm trying to get into. No more head shots or limited action...I'm actually trying to do something here, and so far, it's working out. Now if I could keep from drawing them WAY too thinly.
However, three things:
1) I don't like being called a liar. Under ANY circumstances, no matter how it's phrased. Nothing pisses me off more than that.
2) Do not tell me I have to do something. If you tell me I MUST do something, 99% of the time, I will simply not do it to spite you. You can suggest, sure...but saying I must do a thing will make me NOT want to do it.
3) I don't like being called a liar. Under ANY circumstances, no matter how it's phrased. Nothing pisses me off more than that. Except if it happens again.
SATURDAY
I spent all day typing this! Some of it three times! (grumble)
