Tuesday I had a great interview with a woman who all but told me I had the job. She mentioned that the job was really just formatting advertisements for the classifieds portion of the newspaper, and some minor graphic design since there really wasn't anyone at the place who you could call an "Art Director." She even tried to sell me on moving to Bastrop...should I get the job. she'd get back to me on Friday...and my prospects were "excellent."

Wednesday I got a call from a temp agency looking for Customer Support reps. It paid one dollar more an hour than the Bastrop Advertiser job, although it was only temporary. I got into this position before in PA and paid for it dearly. So this time, I made sure the rep knew I was waiting on a job interview and that if I did take the job, I would need to go to Bastrop if they called on Friday. The rep basically said not to worry...come in for an Interview on Thursday and then call us on Friday when you find out if you have the job or not.

Thursday was when the debris hit the wing. I was told to call in before I left for my interview for directions to the office. I got a voice mail box. I called every 15 minutes until 5PM (my appointment was at 2:30). After 5PM, I gave up.

Friday was when the orbiter blew. I woke up to the news that I didn't get the Bastrop Advertiser job. I always ask if there was something I could have done better to get the job, mainly so I'll do it on my next interview. She said there was nothing I really could have done, since I didn't do anything wrong or bad. The guy who got the job was a degreen Graphic Designer and they decided to go with him since they could use him as an Art Director.

A degreed Graphic Designer applied for a job that specifically said "We are seeking a typesetter." A FUCKING TYPESETTER. I guess in an economy when PhDs are working at McDonalds a Graphic Designer applying for typesetting isn't that uncommon.

So I recomposed myself, and called the temp agency. They filled the position YESTERDAY (Thursday).

I spent the rest of the day in a sort of state of shock. I had been banking on getting ONE of these jobs, and ended up back in the poor house.

I've often jokingly said that the best way out of this recovery is to randomly destroy 33% of the population. Now I'm pretty sure of it. Starting with the Graphic Designers.

I spent most of the day watching the PS2 play Pocket Fighter for me...not really playing it myself. I had some drawing I wanted to do...but my heart wasn't into it. I'm tired of ramen. Best get used to it.

To make things worse...my favorite sleeping shrit self destructed. It was very very old, only because I couldn't find a shirt like it.

About 3:15, it began to snow...I haven't seen snow since 2001, in Pennsylvania. And while it wasn't anything to write home about (well, for someone who has driven in a foot of snow) it was nice to see it again. It was only 1/8th of an inch, but enough for me to roll it in a ball and pop it in my mouth, and make a miniature snowman (all of 3 inches tall). It was enough snow, though, to make that "Crunch" I love to hear, and was falling fast enough to make that rustling noise it makes when it hits the ground. It's wonderful out there. A fairly nice end to a horrible horrible day.

In slightly better news, the tax refund I was expecting of $9.58 balooned into $73. I can live off of that for two months.

I fired My Personal Goddess. Back to athiesm...it just didn't work for me. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Bitch.
