dolariHrm...I'm stuck.
I'm drawing what is pretty much the last major strip in the Celestial exchange agency (there will be one or two more strips, but this is the last one ivolving the group itself). And I'm stuck.
Y'see...the main gist of the original AWFW were three tests Andrea was put through. The first was resisting the temptation of evil, which she did with flying colors.
In my original draft of the CEA, Andrea would have joined this CEA group, and become a leader in it. She would have also headed a group of would-be-angels and caused a split with Iblael, forcing the group into two camps: One - the ones who believed they were beings reborn as humans (Andrea's group) and Two - the ones who believed they actually WERE the things they believed they were.
Eventually, Andrea's actions would have ripped the group apart, because, really, these people were following a cult-of-personality involving Iblael or Andrea. She would have eventually found out when some angels began dressing as HER instead of as Angels and she would have walked out.
The test here is that Angels should NOT lead, but guide. While the test ended badly, it was the correct answer to the test.
Well, the story had other ideas, and turned into an Iblael/Andrea Street Fighter match. Yeah, Andrea learned she can use magic, and we have this neat Abaddon story that popped up...but...there's really no test here.
I'm going to try and shoehorn my original "Guide, don't lead" ending here...but I doubt it would work.
The only other thing I can can come up with is "Stand up for what you believe in, when no one else does" or "Don't meddle in things you don't understand, yet" or "An Angel must have courage to stand up to all things great and small."
Oooh. I like that last one. I literally didn't think about it until I put in in quotes.
Let's see...at the and of Final NightmareI, Andrea was timid about her Angel status...and it kinda shows at the beginning of CEA. she does break her shell when she sees what she THINKS is Hanna, and takes charge of the situation even though it's almost all over her head.
So the test would be...hrm..."An angel must confront all things through?" "An angel must do what's right, even if it is above her?" "An angel must have faith, in all things?"
I've actually asked Hanna and Andrea what they think the "moral" of the story was, and Andrea says that "No real moral, I just got in over my head." Hanna says "I'm proud of her, but this was no test."
But that really doesn't jibe with my idea of 3 tests.
Maybe the next episode "24 Hours" is the test. In 24 Hours, Andrea is at her lowest point in life, and over the course of 24 Hours, it gets steadily worse, until she realizes that it's a turning point in her life. Maybe THAT is the test? It doesn't jibe with the "Angels must guide, not lead" test I had in mine, and strays WAY too close to the "An Angel must do good, even when all things turn against her" have planned for "Apotheosis."
Hrm... maybe the moral here IS "An Angel must do good, even when all things turn against her." and the moral to "Apotheosis" is "An angel must do good, even for someone who is evil."
"Angels must take the initiative?" "Angels must say what they believe and believe what they say?" "Angels must eat ham?"
Well, I'll keep drawing the ending I had planned for CEA and hope it's not too shoehorned in. I'm really muddled, confused, and getting wierd responses from Andrea and Hanna.
I'll figure something out by Saturday night.
