(Dreamcast gramar and spelling rules apply)
Happy everything, everyone. Hope you had a good
one.
The trip down to San Antonio...I usually like to
mark out special links for every place I go, but
the Dreamcast only does one page at a time, and
it never EVER saves text buffers, so you'll have
to look up the towns yourself. I suggest using
the search keywords "Handbook Texas Online" and
the name of the city to find more about them:
AUSTIN: Loop 1 to US 290 to Oak Hill:
OAK HILL: US 290 to FM 1820 to FM 150 to
Driftwood
DRIFTWOOD: FM 150 to CR 170 to FM 12 to Wimberley
I stopped in Wimberley to say Hi to Santa. FM 12
used to go straight to a store, where it turned
90 degrees left. They curved that turn and
turned the old road into a parking lot. There's
a little trafic island (very little) that is used
to seperate FM 12 from the parking lot. They had
a nice big tree up with presents and a Santa,
sitting in a chair, facing traffic, waving.
That's akk that he did...just waved to traffic.
I love Small Town Texas.
WIMBERLEY: FM 12 to FM 32 to Purgatory Road...
It's funny how this area, known as Devil's
Backbone because of a weird set of funny shaped
hills, has all these Devil/Hell names for roads
and features. I know this used to be a really
wild prt of Texas, but Hellaciously tough?
... to FM 306 to FM 2673 to Sattler.
Sattler has Canyon Dam AND the "Texas Heritage
and Dinosaur Tracks Museum." :D
SATTLER: FM 2673 to 3159 to Smithson Valley
Smithson valley has one of the most Spectacular
Views of the Hill country in the entire area.
And thecoolest thing about it is NO ONE KNOWS
WHERE IT IS. :)
SMITHSON VALLEY: FM 3159 to FM 1863 to Smithson
Valley Road to Evans Road (Wrong Turn) to US 281
to Stone Oak Parkway to Huebner Road into San
Antonio via FM 1517, Texas 16 (Bandera Road) to
Mainland and we'll leave it vague at that.
Total driving time, 3 hours.
I spent some nice private time withthe family,
with absolutely no stress from anyone. This is a
rarity, since most of the time, we're
psychologically thumb-wrestling...but we had none
of that.
Normally, we open "Our Gifts" on Christamas Eve,
and "Santa's Gifts" in the morning. On that
thought, we opened al our gifts that evening, and
we all got some nice nice stuff. My ister gave
me Dune-House Harkonnen (I've yet to finish House
Atreides), and my parents gave me DVDs galore.
Seems she still has my Wish List from two years
ago, and gave my four from that, and two that
weren't on there, but were very welcome:
To Kill a Mockingbird, Spider-Man, The Alamo,
Evita, Shanghai Knights (my wishlist as Shanghai
Noon, but this is just as welcome) and The
enverending Story (not on my wishlist, but one of
my fave childhood movies).
I also go $200. $75 of which will go to my next
hormone shot. I'm currently debating wether to
save the other $125 for an emergency fund until
more donations come in, or blow it on the
Battlestar Galactica DVD set. Either way, een if
I saved it, i wouldn't be able to afford my NEXT
Hormone shot, which would be $150 (Haveing a
Doctor's consultation on that). I'm rather torn,
and my love of mone is torn mby my love of
Galactica. WHAT DO YOU THINK? I'D REALLY LIKE
TO KNOW. AND WILL PROLLY BASE MY ACTIONS ON YOUR
RESPONSE. ::grin::
One of my cousins came over fo Christmas Eve and
we after my parents went to bed, we shot the
bull. It was here that I decided to lay some
crash-gem bombs (Cross Reference: Super Puzzle
Fighter 2 Turbo).
I've decided to break the deal I have with my
parents, but not blatantly: I gave my cousin the
webaddress to AWFW, and my EMail address
(jenn@dolari.org instead of my usual
(MALENAME)@dolari.org). AWFW has links here, to
Closetspace, Dolari.org and most importantly my
picture on the Vanity Page. It's time let them
know, especially after today. The idea being
that it will spread like wildfire in my family
(and it will) and they'll all make it to
Closetspace/Dolari.Org from there.
One thing I need to consider, though, its it's a
two way wildfire. Once the door is opened, om
will be hearing about this stuff from family. It
maybe time for a friends-only filter for family
issues.
I didn't sleep too well (the pillows here ar just
HUGE), and woke up with a headache that just
floored me all day.
I woke up and didn't see any of the "Santa" gifts
we usually have on Christmas Day. Turns out the
DVDs were "it." If I'd known that, just to sve
tradition, I woulda waited for Christmas Day.
All but one Uncle (on my dad's side) showed up
(The Creepy Uncle was very very subdued, thank
goodness). All got a link to AWFW and the jenn
EMail address. Same with my cousins who came
over. My grandmother again called me Mija ("It's
the dementia" Mom said IMMEDIATELY and LOUDLY
afterwards). But today was different. My Uncles
wanted to HEAR what I had to say, instead of
relegating me to the Kiddie Korner, and they knew
SOMETHING was up.
They got the webcomic and Email addresses as
well.
The (mother's side) reunion came up, but
thankfullyI wasn't asked Point Blank if I would
go. However a large large large stink is being
made about three brothes and their extended
family's who are refusing to go. I don't know he
specifics, and don't want to pry, but the
"committee" is literally bombarding those familys
with letters urging them to come. If I had told
them "I'm not going" the Uncle would have pried
and pried into me. And I wold have told him,
ruining a lot of holiday cheer for my parents,
I'm sure.
However, I do not plan to go, period. It's
dangerous (my Mom's family doesn't like
non-straight types) and if I went, i would be the
Night's Entertainment.
I do want to build ties with a family I've mostly
hidden from, but a reunion is NOT the place to do
that when you're TG.
Tomorrow I see Steph and give The Graces their
presents (the only ones i could afford).
Have a good night, y'all. :)
Happy everything, everyone. Hope you had a good
one.
