Actually, though, the two shots of nudity are some SERIOUS foreshadowing of the end of the series. In the series, Aisha/Marlene is invited for a swim, and not wanting to get her clothes wet (and being a total amnesiac with no sense of taboo), she gets naked and dives off a cliff. Later in the series, she becomes a being of light, and flies in the exact same pose.
Wow! Gratuitous nudity with a purpose! :D
The show is still darker than it's Robotech counterpart but Robotech is extremely faithful to the Mospeada writing. Only one episode really has a major rewrite (so far):
Mospeada Episode 13/Robotech Episode 73 : Aisha/Marlene has become ill and Ray/Rand has been sent out to find water for the group
In Robotech, Rand comes across a small pit filled with The Flowers of Life, spewing hallucinogenic spores which cause him to have a whacked out dream episode.
In Mospeada, however, Ray is looking for Cactus to squeeze water out from, and falls into a pit with cacti. There's a serious cut as Rand falls of him knocking his head around as he falls in, and Marlene traumatically reacting to his fall from across the desert. His dream is a product of the fall. As well as a song: In Robotech, Lancer/Yellow is asked to sing a song to cheer the group up. Lancer/Yellow refuses, saying he's not a Music Box. But in Mospeada, he sings a song about a princess kidnapped by a evil dragon and how five warriors saved her. The song shows up in the dream over and over again (and is the setting for the dream, too). In Robotech, it's just all summed up by Flower of Life Spores.
They also reaplyed the nude scenes for no appearant reason in the dream. Gotta recycle that animation SOMEhow. :)
