SUNDAY
SPIDEY DAY! I ran off to go see Spider Man 2. It's amazing how much Kirsten Dunst in red hair looks like my highschool friend Jaydee. Went to go see it at the alamo Drafthouse, and the pre show entertainment was (1) SPIDEY VELCRO WALL...but there were no attendants and therefore no wall jumping and (2) JAPANESE SPIDERMAN TV! My God, the Japanese are wierd. Their Spiderman not only shoots webs and climbs building, burt can call upon a transforming mecha machine called Leopardo...(3) Trailers for Dark Man and Troma's SEARGANT KABUKIMAN NYPD! ROCK

The movie itself was GREAT. Spiderman 1 knocked Superman out of the running as Best Superhero Movie Ever, and Spidey 2 kicked Spidey 1's butt. I had some real reservations about Alfred Molina as Doc Ock...mainly because the posters had him looking Bad Ass..which Doc Ock is NOT Bad Ass. However, on the screen, he LOOKS like Doc Ock...kinda frumpy. Loved him. Toby McGuire makes Nerdism look good, and Kirsten Dunst's nipples were on prominent display through the movie (hey, it worked in Spidey 1, why not 2?). The subway fight was great, and the scene where the citizens actually see him unmasked...well...it could have been hokey, but was handled wonderfully.

There were some points that threw me out of the movie though. They were pretty small, though.

(1) A Sam Raimi staple, unfortunately. I have a thing about people looking in the camera. We're NOT "there" in the movie, so you shouldn't be looking at us. Sam Raimi doesn't do that per-se, but he has a LOT of ZOOM IN ON GIRLS SCREAMING RIGHT AT US. It completely shattered the "suspension of disbelief" I had in the movie (which should tell you something about Spidey 2 - it's hard to get me into a movie to begin with). The only cool thing about one of those shots is a quick cameo of Stan Lee.

(2) An incredibly unecessary line that just simply screamed THIS IS A PLOT POINT PEOPLE! Saying that THIS (point to chip) is an inhibitor chip keeping my arms from taking my own brain over just screams IT IS GOING TO FAIL. Also creating something with the ability to take you over that you need such a chip is...well...silly. It prolly could have been handled better, say blame it on the shock of being magnetically scrambled, your lifes work failing and your wife dying....

(3) Kirsten Dunst nipples. I love Kirsten Dunst. I really do...but...please someone turn down the AC. :) The poor girl must be very cold.

After that I worked on some maps, (http://www.dolari.org/cr/comal_cr_map.pdf) and puttered around on the computer. Lots of spare time thanks to the cable modem....

MONDAYShoulda bought groceries but didn't...ended up cleaning the house a bit, getting pizza, and watching TV. I even did another map for the helluvit (http://www.dolari.org/cr/hays-caldwell_cr_map.pdf)

However, in the evening, we had a VIDEO FEST! I have a way of broadcasting DVDs and TV over the net, so what began as a little experiment turned into an overnight Quadruple Feature. I played with some Big O, and Dopplegang over the net. And in return, Katrus broadcasted Death Race 2000. FUN was had by all. :D

Thanks to Darque Bishop, I remembered about DOSBox, and played with a bit. I got Megarace to work with it - what a crappy game. :) But SFJenn runs in it as well. It still has the font problem that first showed up with Win 98, and it plays WAY too fast unless you turn down the CPU Cycles, but the music plays fine. I should prolly put a link up to it on the SFJenn page. I should also prolly put up SFJenn 1.0 since it's COMPLETLEY different, and maybe even some of the SFJenn 2.0 preliminary stuff I did in 98.

Spidey got me thinking, though, about whatever happened to JD. allI know is her name is now Sarah Katzer. She's had SEVERAL names, though. Sara O'Shea, Kristen Hyduke. She and her mother helped me through a VERY tough time in my life, and while her mother, Geri, has since passed away (in an ultimate bit of spite that had me move to PA, my parents refused to let me go to her funeral). And while Geri knew I thanked her (I had a dream several days after she died where she told me so :) ), I don't think Sara knew. And I treated her badly to at the end of our relationship, since I was sure she was treating her boyfriend (another good friend) badly.

so, if any of you out there know someone who knows someone who knows Sarah (she's a red headed Kristen Dunst, can't miss her) tell her Thanks, 'kay? And give her my phone number. ;)
