Friday
Not much to Friday, as usual. It's a dead night, and I spent most of it drawing AWFW and following it up with Closetspace. Not much to Friday except for the realization that I'm becoming "more important" there. Some of the other Level 1s are coming to me for help and advce, which just creeps me out. Not that it's a bad thing, but like the whole DOR Comic Project, I'm not really all that used to being The One in Charge. :)

Saturday
Saturday was the Day or Remembrance gathering downtown. I didn't know if I was going to be going or not, mainly because the comics had only been pencilled, and I had an early swake up call on Monday, squeezing Sunday pretty tight. But this was important, the comics could be "skimped" (especially AWFW which had been planned to be completely in long shot) and I wanted to see my friends again.

I showed up at Republic Park a little early, and was greeted by the Very Happy to See Me Erin, Marca and Pace, and their Monster Hugs of Doom. :) I let them get on with their business, and milled around. I met some Boulton and Park alumni there and chatted them up a bit. Turns out (1) The entire run of Gender Euphoria newsletters is archived at the UTSA Library Archive at the Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio, and (2) Tri-Ess is still Tri-Ess. :)

With more milling around, I found Throm and Fugaciouslover (Do you realize, I only know your Livejournal names, since those're the ONLY names we've been introduced with?). Met JoAnne, who I hadn't seen in almost 10 years and a gender ago, and finally met Serafina and Ruvoryn. I didn't really spend much time getting to know those last two, but, to be honest, we weren't there to make friends. That was just a nice side effect.

The ceremony itself was very powerful, and I was surprised at the number of F2Ms there (Dean, you shoulda came along). Speeches were made, poems were read, but then came the reading of the names. As they were read, Sera and Ruvoryn began to huddle, and Erin added to that huddle...and the group got bigger and bigger, and larger and larger, all of us just sobbing. Someone, I don't know who, kissed me. I kissed someone else. The hug got tighter. And it was wonderful.

"My arms aren't wide enough to hug us all."
"That's okay...we'll help."

And then we broke. The ceremony had no closing. It simply ended. As it should have....

Erin, Marca, Throm, Fugacioslover and myself then hit Katz's to unwind...I was introduced to a Potato Knish, all you can eat Kosher Pickles, and talk about impending marriages...a good time was had, and it was nice to unwind among friends I hadn't seen in some time.

I got home buzzed with Good Energy, which I hadn't had enough of in a long time.

Folks, I love y'all, too. :)

Sunday
The entire day was rushing to get comics done before an early bedtime. I had AWFW and CS done about Midnight when the first reports of "BAD WEATHER!" began to come in. After checking out a couple of online forcasters, I decided that a half-asleep drive to San Antonio in bad weather was a Very Bad Idea. So I called Dr. Chase to cancel my appointment, and spent the remaining time working on comics. This run of comics, I think, look GREAT for one reason - I had eight hours to detail them. I was able to really get some shading in there for once, and with AWFW, detail out the magic instead of just drawing spheres and lines.

Monday
Ah, well, back to real life. I closed out my own DOR project, wrote thank you letters, wrote this entry, played some Half Life and MK2, broke 11,000 visits and just generally chilled. It was a wonderful weekend. And thinking about the gathering had me thinking about a scene in an upcoming AWFW. It prolly won't be there for a while yet. Prolly not until after "The Lesson of Patience" but one I think we need to see....

Who knows who will be there.
