There was a big of ego deflation yesterday...really didn't get into t because it made me mad. However, I'm mostly over it, so here we go.
I tend to dress "dressy." Nothing over the top, but I always look like I'm going to work. My clothes are blatantly female with Big Skirts and usually some kind of layered top. I always wear some kind of makeup. My hair is always done. I do this to put out huge I AM WOMAN vibes to the rest of the world.
I hate going through such a huge rigamarole just to go grocery shopping or run errands. Sometimes I just go male and say screw it.
Well, yesterday was a "screw it" day with a twist. I've had causal clothes for a long time, that I hardly wear because, well, I'm too busy putting on the billboard. But I've seen plenty of other trans folks go casual that I wanted to do it, for once. I put on some jeans, my canvas shoes and a nice top, did my hair (that at least only takes a minute or two) and just some light makeup and ran all my errands.
I've never been "sirred" so much in my life.
It really deflated me, especially since I'd thought I'd been making so much progress lately. Guess it's back to the dressy look.
Today, however, my body decided to give me a small pity present.
I was at work walking away from my desk to get a diet Coke, when Brian shoulted "Jenn! YOUR PHONE'S RINGING!." So I sprinted back to my desk.
I dont' run often, just don't have much of a chance to. But in the words of Alfred Hawthorn Hill: "It must be jelly because jam don't shake like that." :)
