I got beat up again today, but I'll talk about that later.
Okay, real quick rundown, this is what happened last night. I was trying to work on my scanner last night on it's new place on what's left of my desk at the very bottom. I was hunched over, sitting indian style on the floor. I needed more light, so I "scootched" into the scanner, where a previously hidden pencil underneath stabbed me in the shin, then broke off in there. That was the worst of the problems yesterday.
So today, the shin wound is not hurting much, not at all actually, and seems to be doing fine. The skin around the puncture wound is slowly growing over. As much as I've felt around the skin, I I never felt a tip in there.
Today while I was in the bath, the hot water made the wound sting, and reminded me that it was there. The wound was still black from the graphite, but I decided to do what my parents did for my sister when she did roughly the same thing.
The squeamish should prolly go read someone elses journal now.
I took a straight pin (sterilized in scalding water and hydrogen peroxide) and gently moved it down the center of the wound. A few millimeters down, I felt something hard, but didn't "feel" it on my leg. The tip was still in there. I moved the straight pin just a tiny bit and found the edge, and sure enough, I felt that. I tried but couldn't get the tip out.
So what should I do now?
I'm supposed to see Dr. Chase this Friday. I haven't cancelled it yet. But, if I see him, it's an immediate $140 appointment to have it taken out. If I see him, he'll also want my scheduled blood tests, add another $150 to that. I have a grand total of $90.
I CAN leave it in there, and just take care of the wound till it heals over, but I dont' want ANOTHER lifelong companion (there's a scar on my hand that's a reminder to Not Do Stupid Things).
I've had a really bad weekend. Wait'll I tell you what happened tonight. But I'll do it later, I'm pretty funked as it is.
