Sep. 28th, 2003 07:09 amAWFW and CS are updated.
AWFW has all photographic backgrounds, mainly because I wanted to give a feeling of a Specific Location. And if you hadn't noticed, I tend to skimp on the backgrounds.
Panel 1 is one of the strangest areas I've ever seen for a cemetary. A clump of trees in the middle of a field, 1/4 mile from any property lines or roads. My family believes it might be a family plot, but when I went there, there were only 5 markers, 2 with my last name, both children.
Panels 2-6 were taken at the Gabriel Mills (Or Bittick) Cemetary. This area is actually just one set of gravestones in an area of scattered graves in the area, where there isn't a set property line, or boundary...just a clump of graves here, another here, and another there. The grave Andrea is kneeling in front of is one Elizabeth Simpson, a slave who died in the 1860s. Her epitaph shows up on Lise's gravestone...although it's pretty ominous. I figured I used her grave, I should at least transfer her epitaph. "And remember as you are passing by, you must die as well as I."
Actually, something really creepy happened...as I was working on Panel 1, I got the idea I was being watched...and lo and behold, after finishing up "repainting" the headstone, there was a FACE watching me in the picture. You can't see it in the panel, but here are the originals I made that panel from.
Coincidence? Chance scattering of JPEG blocks? Elizabeth Simpson saying hello (or warning me?) Read the book.

Honestly, though, I tend to be very good about cemetaries, never stepping onthe graves themselves, and usually fixing flowers and flags that have fallen over.
Closetspace...THIS is the reason I had to fix that issue with Allison "seeing" Carrie. There's another place where it's important down the road.
Allison came up with another plot point that I'm starting to like, but I need to talk it over with a friend first, since we're beginning to treat some sensitive ground if I follow that plot.

Date: 2003-09-28 05:32 am (UTC)That is freaky. I dropped the original into photoshop and played with the color and contrast, even made a negative of the image. The shading and such stayed consistent with the idea of a face throughout all of it.
If it's an optical illusion, it has a disturbing amount of depth to it.
