Some more pics. I reencoded this in PNG format which shouldn't make any JPeg Macro Blocks. And when I blew up the closeup, I did it at 400% so the pixels resized in the right aspect ratio. The face showed up on a second set of pics...mind you, they were taken in seconds of each other, so nothing had a chance to change. This is the 2nd set of pics. The 1st set of pics has been reencoded from the source pic at the zoom is also 400%

Actually, there still are JPEG blocks here, just only one generation of them, if I correctly understand; this was taken with a digital camera? At least it looks like JPEG blocks -- maybe a scanner artifact if not from the camera?

I've often seen images like this when digging through source photos and have sometimes considered using them for something. There was one spooky looking one (not as accurate as this one at all) that I did use for a texture set for Project Medieval (an unsuccessful game project in 1997 that was going to make us all rich). Don't bother claiming a NASA conspiracy if subsequent photos of the same spot fail to show a face. 8)

Probably the best source I've seen is a scan of rust...

Yes, Jenn, the ones I mentioned above should all be lurking in your backup archives. 8) -- look in the dimtex directory tree.

SL, who thinks the image looks like a guy
