I need Dill and I need it NOW!
Oct. 4th, 2003 06:22 amClosetspace #55 is not only done, but now is created in a completely different way than before that doesn't need any color correction, redrawing or fiddling. So happy.
Basically, these are the (old) steps of Jenn Makes Comics:
1) Pencils
2) Inks
3) Scan
4) Color
5) Assemble in Quark Express
6) Save as EPS
7) Open EPS in Paint Shop Pro AND Photoshop
8) Remove all text from PSP Version. Paste on top of badly color skewed Photoshop Version
9) Save as GIF.
Step 7 SUCKS and takes forever. PSP renders the graphics BEAUTIFULLY, but the text is all garbled. Photoshop renders the text fine, but skews the image (B&W images become sepia, Blue turns purple, Red turns violet). SO I had to open two versions and paste on on the other, and on the Color AWFW episodes, correct for all the bad colors.
However, thanks to Dean's Illustrator Skillz, I now do things a little differently:
1) Pencils
2) Inks
3) Scan
4) Color
5) Assemble in Quark Express
6) Save as EPS
7) Open EPS in Illustrator. Turn all text to curves.
8) Save as EPS
9) Open EPS in Paint Shop Pro.
10) Save as GIF.
Happy jenn. Good text, and good images.
AND - I can do print quality versions as well: I suggest you right click and save it to open up on your home machine. It's 800k and 3000 pixels wide.
Print Quality Version (spoilers for Episode 55 of Closetspace)
Please note the fine detailing of the pantyhose that takes forever to do, and ends up getting covered up by textblocks. :P
I had print quality versions of the first 7 episodes of AWFW. But they were lost in the Big HD crash of 2001 that nearly took the comic with it. Considering I'd have to recreate almost 100 comics up to print quality, I doubt I'll make print quality comics from here on out...
...at least on these comics. :)
I also got a nice little IM Fan Conversation with someone who really really liked Closetspace. ::grin:: Fan Mail makes me happy. :D
