Before I left for home, I made an EBay auction with the Christmas sketch everyone seemed to enjoy so much. I wa shoping when it was over, I'd have a little cash in my pocket.

The trip home was mostly uneventful, other than the event being my mom's "double birthday." The official records have her being born on the 24th, but my grandmother said she was born on the 25th. So she just celebrated both days. Much like my anniversary with Emily. :)

The trip home was out the door at the last minute, and a long sleep, followed with the usual "The Computers in the House Aren't Working" stuff. My parents computer has this very strange suond card they "inherited" when they got the computer...it's the most proprietary thingy I've ever seen and I've never EVER gotten it to work correctly. It turns out it was freezing the computer ever ten seconds for a second or two so I just yanked it out. They can't hear the computer anyway, and I have an extra Sound Blaster Audigy around here somewhere they can use. They have the most powerful old computer I've ever seen. 386MB RAM, 10 GB HD, Brand spanking new install of Win 98...on a Pentium 2/233. IT screams, though, considering they only ever used it for an old copy of Microsoft Money from Windows 3.11, and America Online.

That night we all went out to a Some Cajun Restaurant out across town for her birthday dinner. Everyone but my mom was dissapointed in it, but, it was her birthday, so we didn't say anything. :) One thing I did learn, though, was that my dad makes two trips to Austin...EVERYDAY. His first trip gets here while I'm still awake. And he delivers prolly less than a mile from here. He had no idea I lived so close (despite being here several times) so we made some arrangements to try and get together for breakfast one day.

The next day, I was loaded down with groceries and a full tank of gas and came home. to find out I left some of the groceries back home...so we put our plan into action a little early, and dad hauled some concrete whatevers and the groceries on up to Austin. Didn't even charge me! :)

The EBay auction ended Monday, not a single bid. At first I was kinda miffed about it, but I think what happened, with all the convention stuff going around and recognition from the Wotch and VE and whatnot, that I kinda got too big for my britches.

I forgot that in the four years I've been online only four people have ever ordered from my store, and the only way I got any donations was to offer sketches for each one. Making a living on webcomics is something I never thougth I could do (but it has happened), but asking for cash for something you do for free just doesn't work (unless you get massive federal subsidies, and I doubt that's gonna happen any time soon cause my congresman thinks I'm insane).

This kinda puts a damper on the AWFW book. It's still coming out, though. I've already gone this far and announced it, I might as well finish it. Thankfully, I don't need to pay for a print run. Just one book at a time, please. :)

That pretty much it. I installed Half Life 1 and Alice and have been playing them. LAst time I played these was on a Pentium 1/200 with a Voodoo 1 card. While I've had this new computer for forever, I haven't tried any of these games since. Wow. What a difference Real Nice Hardware Makes. Although Afterlife plays lightning fast. WAY faster than it should. I should try some of my other games to see how they play.

Ooooh, I bet ZDoom looks GREAT. :D
