What a day.

Last minute nastiness with the computer and the TV card resulting in my computer puking up in Windows 98, and scrambling my INF files all to heck. Basically, this means my computer knew I HAD hardware, but didn't know how to use it.

Again, I'm reset back to September 1st. However...this time, I reinstalled XP. I just figured I wasn't going to use the TV card anymore.

And then I read about DScale (www.dscaler.org). It's a Linux program that allows you to watch TV and even enhances the image by deinterlacing it. I figure, what the hell, it's worth a shot. I download the Windows Version....

John Adcock, I love you.

Not only can I watch TV without the horrors of random reboots and bluescreens, but the screen is completely and totally GORGEOUS. The ATI card shows 240 lines on the screen - two screens of 240 mixed together gets you 480. Your average TV shows those 480 lines, but the ATI device only shows 240 (although it shows the "2 screens."). What DScale does is take both those 240 line pictures, rethread them into 1 480 line picture, and what you get is wonderfully clear crisp images, and with other settings, you get nice smooth image, and non-jerky movements. Plus it acts like a TiVo (pausing TV).

This thing just rocks so hard.

The only thing I'll miss is not being able to use the Digital VCR setup (which almost never worked right). And, being a Linux program to begin with, it's overly complicated. But it WORKS. IT WORKS ATI! YOU HEAR ME?!

Dean and I went to a job fair today. The "fair" was to run from 5PM to 8PM. We actually got there later than we wanted to and got there about 6:45 PM. I had an appointment to meet a friend at Jim's come 8:30 PM. The fair was PACKED. They were expecting 30 people, they got 100. I wasn't interviewed untl 9:15 PM. Dean didn't get out of his interview until 10:00 PM.

Holy cow, that was a long wait. My interview wen't decently, although you could tell the interviewer wasn't pushing any limits. She wanted out as much as we did.

Aadroma brought it to my attention that Carrie just shouldn't be looking that good in that dress as she does. She IS male. I've always tried to make her "not completely female." Her arms have more definition than I put in my males. She doesn't have big hips. And I definately stretch her shoulders a little wider than my other female characters.

However, he's prolly right. No matter how "Bishie" I try to make Carrie, she's still a Dude. So I think we'll have an episode of Closetspace that is simply her undressing - and all the engineering that made it possible. And it's a LOT of engineering.

Originally, I would have showing just a swath of duct tape, giving her cleavage. But now, I think I'll make it a bit more convoluted. :)

I missed seeing that friend today - I will try again tomorrow.

What a busy day.
