I'm not always the biggest fan of Mainland China, but I gotta give them the Glad Hand. Congrats on putting a man in space. Astronomy and spaceflight are hobbies I've had since I was little. I saw the first shuttle launch (in fact, I got to meet Robert Crippin and AJ Young when they did an assembly for out school), and knew about both the Russian and American spaceflight missions (well, as much as Russia would TELL anyone). I'm rather iffy on having Mainland China in space, but they got him up there. Now hurry up and build those stations Nixon took out of our budget.

It looks like Dean and I will have jobs at Unisys. This is not bad. But it's also not good. We think it's going to be part time work. At least with both of us, we can get One Full Paycheck every two weeks. If it works out it could be great: We both do less work, and still do what we like. Dean could get a seconds job in a low paying artsy/liberal job, and I can draw comics.

Speaking of which, I began my 1 comic a day regiment today, and with time and reference comics, I drew up 3 panels of AWFW that kicked ass. Anyone confused with this weeks AWFW - all will be explained next week. I hope (more on that later...)

Then it became time for Kill Bill. I've seen more than my fair share of Kung Fu Flicks. I used to frequent Century Video next door to Tim's Oriental Meat Market. My friend Robert introduced me there, where we were the ONLY round eyes who rented from them. We did all our searching by looking at pictures on the box ("Hey, it's THAT guy!"). I got to see Jackie Chan, Sonny Chiba and Chow Yun Fat (who did LOTS of comedy) before anyone ever heard of these names.

Kill Bill is a GREAT American Version of those movies. Tarantino did some great things to it - such as doing it all out of order, and (one thing a lot of Kung Fu flicks lack) filling it with backstory. Several scenes just got me...such as Buck's friend meeting The Bride for the first time. The only thing in my head was "I can't wait to see how this turns out." The fights were great in everyway that the Matrix Reloaded's fights lacked. Fighting 200+ Agent Smiths is NEAT, even if it's CGI. Uma fighting 88 real live people (with only one or two hokey effects (hokey on purpose)) just rocked. And that cliff hanger. I need to give Quentin Tarantino a big kiss.

Alamo Drafthouse quirkiness: The sound wasn't working for most of one of the trailers, and the whole ending credits. However, we got a generic Kung-fu movie for the pre-show, and Game of Death and Sister Street Fighter promos. ROCK!

Back to the comics...I got home, worked on the fourth panel, then spilled 44 ounces of soda on my pencils and one of my Robotech comics. The comic seems fine (it wasn't soaked, and only a few pages were wet), but the pencils were ruined. The only thing I can think of is to scan in the pencils and ink them on the tablet. Or I cna redraw them. ::sigh:: I'd trace them, but I sure could use a light box for that....

Go Go Yubari: I love you. I wish to have your very cute, and very demented babies should I live past the dating stage.

They show it at the Alamo every so often, I'll go next time it's on.
