Mictecacihuatl
Oct. 31st, 2003 05:39 amI'm not totally unflappible. I don't intimidate easily. But when it comes to talking to people I respect and look up to, I completely freak. Just yesterday, I sent out two Emails to two of those people.
One was a letter to Erin Lindsey, who does Venus Envy. I wrote a response to a letter she wrote me. The other went to a TV producer I "know" about written permission for Closetspace music.
With Erin's, I just wrote the letter and sent it off. She mentioned something about "lovinng us enough to do two comics." My response was "Love? Nah. Just the combined pressure of the voices in my head demanding an outlet." I thought it wsa funny. But after rereading and rereading and rereading I realize I may have inadvertently insulted her by insulting the general public (Love? Nah...). Wasn't meant that way. And it's made me worry and worry and worry.
The letter to the producer made me antsy before I even wrote it. I'd already messed up a couple of times (too demanding for a response after waiting a week, pointing him to a script I wrote for critique (showing a producer a script is a BIG NO NO) and so and so forth). It took me forever just to ask for written permission for songs he'd already agreed to let me use.
It's thirty minutes from bedtime, and those two letters are STILL on my mind, even after writing them 48 hours ago.
There'll be a future episode with another Dark Angel. I've always considered calling her Apollyon (the Greek form of Abaddon). However, I recently found out that the Aztec "Lady of Death" is named Mictecacihuatl. So. Do I use Apollyon or Mictecacihuatl? One is huge, but the other isn't NEARLY as cool sounding. This person names herself, so I still lean to Apollyon, since she's already heard the name. However, I can Morningstar name her Mictecacihuatl, since he would know. Decisions decisions.
How many TS comics ARE there out there? We need to all band together and publish comics.
Halloween is tomorrow (today for those not on Jenn Standard Time). Not really a holiday I celebrate, although the next day is Dia de los Santos followed by the day I celebrate, Dia de los Muertos. My only problem is, that by the time I wake up, all the "celebrations" are over, everything has been bought, and everyone has packed up.
Last year, I saw Erin leave the house and meet with Gods and Monsters. This year, I'm going to be driving to San Antonio to be with the parents over the weekend (and get some Day of the Dead loot this time). I'm wondering if I'll leave first thing in the afternoon, or later in the evening. The reason? It'll be a long trip. Just me and the pickup, through windy dark backwoods. I'd like to meet my own Gods and Monsters. I doubt I will see anything, though...a lot of people have pointed out - it's just not MY mythology/theology. It would explain why Samhain really doesn't tug at the heart strings, but Dia de los Muertos does.
Anyways, I'll be gone till Monday. I'll try to update via the Dreamcast...but we all remember how that went LAST time. :D
