In the Arios creation myth, the sun is born when its egg cracks, releasing
a dove ridden by five gods on it's back. The dove lays another egg and
desposits the gods on it to help nurture the egg until it, too, hatches.
The gods create man, to tend the egg where the gods cannot. The dove lays
another egg, but leaves no men on it. The egg, as it dies, becomes the
moon. The dove flies off into the night sky, joining the other four doves
already there. The earth egg cracks, leaving rivers, canyons and lakes.
The tribe of Arios settles in a river delta near a large saltwater lake
and thrives.
After The Night of Dark Skies (a fairly violent storm system) a flood
comes down the river, destroying the center of the tribe's town.
Five family remnants emerge from the outskirts, creating their own towns
in the delta. The tribe of Ehrem, the tribe of Suunon, the tribe of Avah,
the tribe of Tua and the tribe of Pera.
As the tribes slowly migrate away and around from the center of the delta,
a crossroads town, called Arios City is created.
As the five tribes move farther away, they lose trading links with each
other, trading only with Arios City. The town thrives.
The tribe of Pera loses its link with Arios City and dissapears from
tribal history.
The tribe of Ehrem sends an envoy to Arios City that never returns. A
second envoy also does not return. Knowledge of the path to Arios City is
lost with them. Following old stories, the tribe begins a migration west
towards Arios City, not realizing that after moving so much, the town now
lies to their north. The tribe contains 60 people in it.
Two years into the wandering, Ayrtos is born.
Three years into the wandering, Kem'a is born.
Eleven years into the wandering Sist is born.
Twenty one years into the wandering, Han'a, Manwaz and Khaneni are born.
Twenty four years into the wandering. the tribe camps on the banks of a
freshwater lake for two years, meeting with the tribe of Exus who know
nothing of the Arios.
Twenty six years into the wandering, Kem'a becomes the medicine woman when
Amm'a dies. The tribe continues west, taking Exus wives with them.
Twenty seven years into the wandering, Ayrtos becomes head of the tribe
when Greatan, the former tribal chief dies. He is the last in the tribe
to fully remember Arios City.
Thirty years into the wandering, Han'a becomes a scout.
Thirty four years into the wandering Han'a becomes a warrior, Kahneni
becomes Nen'a, Manwaz is exiled, Han'a is maimed.
Thirty six years into the Wandering, Manwaz finds Arios City.
Thirty seven years into the wandering, Emm'a is born.
Fourty one years in the wandering, Kem'a assigns Nen'a as the tribe's
Medicine Woman. Manwaz leaves Arios City to find the tribe again.
Fourty two years in the wandering, Kem'a dies.
Fourty five years into the wandering, Manwaz finds the tribe, Han'a, Emm'a
and Ayrtos are killed by Manwaz, also killed. Sist becomes the head of
the Tribe.
Fifty years into the wandering Sist dies. His last words beg the tribe
to give up looking for Arios City, and instead, settle at the end of the
world.
Fifty two years into the wandering, the tribe enters "The Rugged Times"
encountering a chain of high mountains that need to be crossed. Over the
next twenty years the tribe makes very little progress, and many die in
the harsh winters.
Sixty four years into the wandering, Nen'a assigns Nek'a as the new
medicine woman.
Seventy years into the wandering, Nen'a leaves the tribe to find Emm'a and
Han'a's pyre site. She is never heard from again. (A year after she leaves, she
builds a fire too deeply in a cave, suffocating her in her sleep).
Seventy two years into the wandering, the tribe leaves the mountain chain.
The tribe, now 150 in number, begin leaving families behind who wish to
settle in the plains.
One hundred years into the wandering The Tribe of Ehrem consisting
of 110 people, mostly original tribal members, but also adopted wives and
husbands of various tribes and families met along the way, settles at the
end of the world - a land they call Herra at a sea that cannot be crossed,
where their descendants live today.
At the end of time, the earth egg will open completely and a dove will
fly out, bringing man with it. The earth egg will become another sun, and
another egg will be laid, and man will nurture it into a new world.
My only real worry is how long Nen'a lives. Most folks back then didn't make it to 30. She made it to 50. But then, as the medicine woman, she was protected and taken care of to the point of being a prisoner, so she wasn't nearly as in danger as much as everyone else.
Half the reason she left the tribe at 49 was to see everything she'd been sheltered from.
