dolariWhen I went to the doctor last time, they gave me a shitload[tm] of tests to be run. I wasn't too thrilled about it, but was resigned to do it - I had insurance coverage.
Just as I was about to leave, the doctor stopped me and said, "hey, wait...you've had a gap in insurance coverage....wait a week or two for a letter from your insurance company asking for more information...if you get it DON'T TAKE THE TESTS, you'll end up paying $1000 for the whole thing."
So a week passed, and I didn't take the tests, I was too busy. Same a week after that. Last wekk I was about to take the tests but couldn't because they only did it early in the morning.
Today, almost a month later, I get a letter from the insurance company denying most of my coverage as a pre-existing condition. If I had taken the tests, I would have paid half a paycheck out in cash for a stupid test I didn't want to take and already knew the answer to anyways.
I've decided to use the insurance as emergency care only. Doctors constantly want to poke and prod me to prevent stuff I know I'll already get no matter what, and now that a lot of it wont' be covered, why bother. All I hope for now is that I can keep the hormones coming in.
