The problem with writing chants is making what you want to say fit into a cadence. I can write a haiku on the fly, which tortures jenni_the_odd to no end…but when you have a LOT of info crammed into a short amount of space, it’s tough going. Hopefully I got what needed to get across in two chants: Over the years, Gaueko’s name has been confused with Manwaz’s and now Gaueko’s to blame for killing Han’a and Emm’a, and that he blames her for tarnishing his name and killing his family. Even blaming her for corrupting into shadow.

Also, if you know your legends well, the three people I haven’t told should be able to guess who the tribe is. The “Lost Children calling a name three times to guide them home” is pretty much one culture period. If that stumps you, do a Google search for Gaueko. Not important to the story, but important for verisimilitude on my end.

I’ve wanted to do what Carrie’s done many many many times. Especially at work.
