Blah Days are OVER!
Dean woke me up bright and early (2PM Jenn Standard Time) so we could head on over to the LBJ library to see the White House "miniature" if you can call it that. It's a cut away dollhouse replica of all the wings of the white house, right down to the oversized squirrels, Ouch! brand fire extinguishers, candy trashcans and giant two story Jimmy Carters stomping around destroying the wildlife.
All kidding aside, it's really neat looking, and seems to be as close a replica you can make with standard doll house parts. It's neat to see so many little recognizable areas you see on TV brought together in one piece. Plus there's lots of little neat thing like easy chairs in the white house movie theater, fibre optic miniature Christmas trees and working fountains.
Someone had a little fun with the miniature, though. In the Theater, they replaced the movie screen with a TV (scaled to look like a movie screen). It was on, and showing what was obviously serious Presidential Movie material: The Berenstain Bears.
I tried to get a picture of The Presidential Cartoon, but it all came out white. :P I don't have the steadiest hand for pictures, and they didn't allow flash photography which made the contrast on these pics REALLY bad, so view at your own risk...

Jimmy Carter

The White House

Candy Trash cans and Ouch Brand Fire Extinguishers

The Oval Office

Squirrels in the Cabinet Room

The White House Press Room

The Dark Lord skulks in Bush's Bathroom

Dinner for 30

The Ballroom

The Bernstein Bears...sorta.
I took a few more pictures...and allow me to say: 150 pictures my ass. My camera only did 43 before it said it was full. Which means I didn't get any good pics of the 1/8th scale 1968 era OVal Office (Three 1968 TVs! With BIG KNOBS! Guaca Green Phones the size of modern computers!) or the 1970s era LAdy Bird office (all done that trendy 1970s era burnt red/orange).
A lot of the gifts given to the Johnson family during their reign were shown, and boy they got gifts. Makes you wonder if we reciprocate at all and give gifts to other countries.
From there, we hit the Avenue B grocery store in Hyde Park (Continuously in operation since 1906) for Sodas and Chippies. It's kind of expensive, but I'd rather pay a little more and go local than go to Wal Mart. :P It's really neat to see all this old signage and penny candy and even old 1950s era boxes and toys littered around. Not to mention that the phone number begins in "GL."
Then we hit 37th street, the street I used to live on and that has the greatest Christmas Light Show ever on the planet. If you live in Austin, go to 37th Street at Guadalupe. PLEASE. You'll love it. Some things to see: The Venus flytrap. The Elvis Shrine. The Volcano (now with laser light show!) and the disco ball. I plan to go back REALLY soon with my camera as soon as I download all 43 pictures from the LBJ library.
After that, I went home, and drew Closetspace. All done...needs inking and coloring and text and assembly, but I'll be done with it tomorrow.
Then, thanks to mphonikksfeed I have lyrics to Carrie's first song! We should be hearing it sometime at the end of January, and I'll have an MP3 or Realtime stream running from Closetspace with he actual song. I also plan to have "Trina" from one of the earlier comics up as well.
I have encoded two DVD movies that won't play on my system and are now ready for burning to CD. Right nowI can only play them on my computer, but I do everything on my computer as it is....
And now I sleep. ::snore::
