All day.

Really.

Big-O fanatics: Here's something I worked on while sorting out DVDs/CD and whatnot and fretting how Adult Swim cut the ending out of Episode #26 again:

Something I posted at the Adult Swim boards: http://boards.adultswim.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=adultswimforum&msg=122899.1&ctx=0

Before I begin, lemme tell you what I think is going on in the Big O world:
The whole show is exactly that - one giant show. Scenes of Roger being spotlit are just that - him being spotlit. The whole thing is a world that is theatrical TV, and has been for as long as people remember it.

Which is only 40 years ago. But it seems that people who are too young remember The Event, and that memories seem to change daily, as if they're being re-written every night, ala Dark City. The city also probably reset much sooner than 40 years ago and memories were written to make the Event 40 years ago.

The story is about Alex, who has all the memories of the city, from even before 40 years ago, finding out his father, Gordon, reset the world 40 years ago (or sooner), and forcing the world to reset into one where he's in control with Big Fau. Gordon, for his part, has simply stopped directing the show, and is letting Alex run amok while the world subconsciously adheres to it's script (The Union wanting memories, the light bombardment from the rafters).

The final showdown begins with Big O and Big Fau about to fight, and 666 stories below, angel walks out of the Elevator. Gordon makes Angel the new Director of The Show. Wings attach to her (Big Venus attatches to her as Big Fau does to Alex) and push her towards a control room. Gordon asks to have the book he wrote filled in, and he dissapears, asking for Roger to finish his work with Alex.

A bright light appears deep in the gears underwater, and flies up, giving memories to Roger:

1) The Domes
2) A young Gordon and Roger shaking hands
3) A burning city
4) An Army of Big Os
5) A fleet of Big Duos
6) Torn up Megadeuces
7) A Big O fighting a Mecha Electrical Eel
8) A Big O holding the head of the eel.
9) A Burning City with a Big Venus appearing over it.
10) A destroyed Big O.
11) A dead Roger Smith
12) The Domes
13) A young Gordon and Roger shaking hands
14) Life under the domes going as normal
15) An assembly line making Roger-bots
16) A hand watching Roger call Big O
17) A Dorothy Doll
18) Angel watching Vera acting as mother to a smaller Angel on a set as Angel looks on
19) Angel holding the Metropolis Book

My theory is that the bright light flyting up, is Angel in her "control room" getting ready for the rewrite of Paradigm City/Metropolis. As she flies up, she gives Roger these images. Images 1-14 are Angel "writing the new story for Paradigm City," knowing full well she's about to erase it with Big Venus). 1-2 are revealing to him that she knows that Roger existed "way back when." 2-14 are the backstory she plans to use in the Next Version of Metropolis, the base for the story she is about to write. 15-19 are Angel revealing to Roger that she is planning to make changes in the story (She plans to have Rogerbots made to replace him, redesigning Dorothy and refilming memories).

...Roger fails in his mission to destroy Alex, and Big Venus appears to erase the world. Roger makes an empassioned speech to keep her from completely erasing all history in her rewrite...

Another set of scenes appears as he convinces her:

1) The camera pulls back to reveal Angel watching this scene, as well as others, in a Director's room.
2) Close on Metropolis, now written by Angel Rosewater
3) A tear down Angel's cheek as a hand hugs her shoulder
4) Roger holding Angel's shoulder, with Dorothy looking on: "Roger, the Negotiator." A Big O poster is in the background.

The Bigs merge and dissapear....

I'm convinced that shots 1-4 are in flashback: Angel is looking at scenes and pieces of the Previous Paradigm City and getting nostalgic for it. Her new script is ready to go (the new book with angel's wings). Dorothy and Roger (from the old city) come because it's time to start the show. Dorothy reminds Angel of the title of the first episode in order to get her to start it: "Roger, the Negotiator."

In the present, the Bigs merge, pulling Roger and Dorothy into the control room with Angel, and the city completely resets.

Here's where it gets iffy - I've only seen this once, and Adult Swim seems to not care about showing the ending no matter WHAT we say, so I may be wrong:

The new version of "Roger, The Negotiator" plays. This time Roger sounding strangely monotone (one of the Rogerbots, perhaps). The opening plays as normal Angel and a human Dorothy look on. The story restarts, but this time possibly without the damage of Alex Rosewater, and hopefully a less destructive story....

Of course, this is just my theory - let's here yours. :)
