Okay, now that I'm feeling awake enough to push keys in some semblance of order, this weekend:

I'd really intended to do comics this weekend, but it unexpectedly had me flying around South Texas in my pickup making various side trips to catch up with everyone.

The first hitch in the plan was that Saturday morning. I'd made plans to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] psylent1 that evening, so I'd meant to get some sleep before it was time to meet up with her. Unfortunately I didn't get as much sleep as I 'd like (something like two hours), so while I was fine for our meeting, it would have consequences later.

I met up with [livejournal.com profile] psylent1 at the Chinese buffet where I quickly realized she wasn't the person I thought I was going to be meeting. For some odd reason I had [livejournal.com profile] breasystorm in my head all this time. I was mortified, cause this isn't the first time I've done that. I'm still smarting over meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] nosugarsadded and confusing her name with [livejournal.com profile] blissfish, and the time I completely forgot [livejournal.com profile] jenmarie's name...despite her LJ name being...well...jenmarie.

I'm terrible about connecting names with faces, and unless I see or hear from you a whole darned lot, those synapses don't connect, or connect badly. Also, I blame the constant sleep deprivation. yeah, that's it. Bad sleep.

Despite my faux pas, we had an absolutely wonderful Chinese buffet dinner (I seriously don't get enough of those, buffet or otherwise) along with her and [livejournal.com profile] audaciousd. I passed aroudn the sketchbook, we talked psychology, we talked about a million things.

But towards the end, with lack of sleep and a full stomach, I was feeling REALLY drowsy. Not to mention I had to get started on comics. We parted ways and I headed back to Dean's place to pick up some packages he'd been holding for me (tasty tasty Middleswarth chips and Birch Beer). Thing was, I wasnt there more than five minutes before I passed out on my old bed. Next thing I know, it's Sunday and I'd slept 10 hours

I spent most of the morning talking with Jill, Dean's girlfriend, and puttering around the house. In a way it was like old times, when I lived there. I do miss being with them all. Lots of politics talk since we were watching Meet the Press. Once Dean woke up, we took off to T&S for their Dim Sum weekend and pigged out. But I had to leave for home right after this - I had comics to do...

...when just as we're paying the tab, my mother calls. She wants me to come down for Father's Day and have dinner. Well, it's Father's Day - I may as well go, and forget about comics. But at the same time, this could be a test to see how the pickup would fare under hot weather. At worst, we'd hit 103 degree weather in Las Vegas...it was 102 in some spots, I wanted to see how the truck would react to that.

I took a long two hour drive to get home to San Antonio via a lot of start and stop roads (if you want the rediculously long route, click here) and the truck handled itself REALLY well. No spikes in oil pressure, battery was good, fuel drop was what was expected, and the temperature never went abouve 200 degrees. ::pets my truck:: I think she'll make it. ::knock on wood:: Either wya, I've decided to leave a day early (the four days in San Francisco plan instead of three) which gives us an extra day should the truck break down somewhere in the Kingdom of Nye.

I didn't fare so well. I needed water and Gatorade badly, and even thenm, was feeling mighty hot even after a cooldown shower (Ever had one of those showers where the water hits you and it's cold - but as you feel it drop of your hands, it's hot? That was me) for days afterwards. I'm hoping that if I wear soemthing to hold my hair back (hairband or hat) and the windows rolled down, it won't be so bad. It wasn't uncomfortable when the windows were rolled down, the problem was my hair flew all over the place and madeit hard to see.

The evening was spent at home with the family and a barbecue (and LOTS of cold water) as well as a basketball game (my parens favorite sport). Dad's retired, mom's retired, my sisters out of work - sure looks like old times. :)

That evening, about 11PM I drove home, stopping in New Braunsfels for a much needed nap (I was groggy all day), making it home about 1AM. I promptly fell asleep, my weekend gone, with no comics to show for it.

But it was a great time nonetheless. :D
