Jan. 13th, 2009 09:22 pmThere was once a different path for A Wish for Wings's sequel called "Tilted Halo." Before the introduction of Abaddon, the story was meant to be muhc more light hearted, and once Andrea gets into heaven, she had a lot of training and saw a completely different "heaven infrastructure" that what we have now.
In the current storyline, Andrea's training is somewhat glossed over. We just see Andrea having other angels point out ways to fight shadows, until she herself gets involved, and Hanna scolds her cause she's not quite ready.
In thw original, there was MUCH more training (The original story was much longer, period). Once she dies, she's taken into a class and taught how to be an angel, starting from the bottom up. The heaven "structure" back then was a group of 12 angels who ministered to the whole world. God was an invisible being who "hid" behind an infinite numer of "Secretaries." Other angels who were speciufically designed to cover every prayer necessary. As a low end job, Andrea would have taken prayers and delivered them to the secretaries who would have sent them to god.
She would have eventually promoted herself to a Human Angel, and been allowed her choice of "presentation." This actually still exists in the current AWFW, where you see Human ANgels presenting as all sorts of things. Modi in a tux, Haustos in Cyclone Armor, and Hope wearing her "elfin" outfit from the CEA. Andrea would not have gotten into her robes, though - she actually picked an outfit with honest to goodness Angel Wings, which Hanna immediately snickers that Andrea will regret that choice in a few hours.
Andrea finished her first day of work as an angel, and heads off to bed, only to be completely unable to sleep cause the wings got in the way. A montage goes on, showing her growing and on her way to becoming a true angel. The last shot of that montage is Andrea sleeping comfortably, covered in her wings like a blanket.
After I cut down the number of episodes in the series, and especially once Abaddon showed up in the series, the story took a hard dark left turn, and turned into a war over shadows an angels. But the image of Andrea sleeping cuddled up in her own wings never ever left me. I couldn't put it in the comic, as she never has wings in the comic, but that doesn't mean I can't draw it, anyways:
