I am too fat.

I really find it sad that food that is bad for you (ramen, cheap preprocessed food, junk food) is cheaper to live on that good stuff. And they wonder why the poor have weight problems.

When I can afford them, fruits and vegetables make up almost half my grocery bill, and that doesn't last as long as the rest.

I screwed up the Closetspace feed and can't check it at work, so just to let you know - no comics this week.

Rice isn't *bad*. And it's cheap.

But in general, carbs are always cheaper than fats, and both are cheaper than proteins.

I lived for a *long* time on rice & TVP (textured vegetable protein, aka soy-based fake meat) with some frozen veggies tossed in from time to time.

But that was because there was a local store with a bulk food section that had the TVP in barrels. I've been looking for someplace else that carried it ever since that place went out of business.

Not that I need to cut corners that badly anymore, but because it was a great "emergency supplies" item as a sealed container of the stuff would keep indefinitely.

Ack, Tofu. No thanks. I really really really loathe tofu.

Anyways, groceries shouldn't be too much of a problem after this Friday. I've been craving an orange. :D

Not tofu.

TVP is dry (you have to soak it in water or cook it with extra water). And once re-hydrated it has a texture that at least reminds you of meat.

The varieties I bought came in Beef, Ham and turkey flavors.

This is essentially the same sort of soy protien that's added to a lot of "meat" products on the market.
