State of the Meat Address
Apr. 9th, 2004 05:29 pmOkay, this is rediculous. I already left Neutral feedback about the Dell Auction...but if I hadn't done that, they would have gotten a Negative feedback. The DVD drive they replaced for the wrong CD-ROM? Sure, it plays movies just fine - but insert a CD and it says the drive isn't formatted. Dos, Windows, everything.
I should get the rplacement drive Tuesday. :P
The interview went spectacularly. I was the only interviewee to bring samples, and I proved my knowledge of the foundations of publishing, so I may actually get this one.
Cooooooooool........ :)

Date: 2004-04-09 04:56 pm (UTC)They broke Windows. We got the first report of there being no "new" command in the File menu from a known computer-illiterate (who is also an engineer, scary thought) and laughed...then a half dozen more reported the same thing. Dell refused to answer our tech support requests because we were on a special contract and their normal tech support did not handle us. It took a week or so, if I remember right, to finagle them into giving me a link to MS's technical support database (which I'd already searched to no avail) explaining that there was a registry key missing. We had to call all of the new machines back in, edit the registry manually, and re-deliver them. I left for college right after that, but the poor guy who was supervising me got to manually regedit about 500 more that came in afterwards.
That is why I try to avoid buying Dells now, outside of work where I have to use them because they're the lowest bidder. *pouts* But for the price you paid, that is hard to pass up.
