I think Bush knows he's not going to get reelected so he wants to make as the most extreme changes and policy decisions he can in the time remaining. It's a bit like someone who borrows your car and then poops on the front seat when you ask for it back. Give him time - he'll probably end his stint as President by declaring war on Canada to "protect the sanctity of marriage".

Canada invading the U.S. -- it'd be like playing "Canadian Bacon" backwards. Or maybe inside-out AND backwards. The way things are going, Steve and I are gonna be movin' north if Bush gets re --- er, scratch that, I mean if he gets elected. You have to be elected the first time in order to be REelected. ;) We likes Canada a LOT. Every so often I ask him why we don't live there -- we keep vacationing there every chance we get. And America's becoming a truly frightening place...
