I really need to establish a line of credit one of these days. No matter how I finagle my finances, I'm coming up $100 or so dollars short.
I'm going to be selling some stuff on EBay to make up the money (including a cameo appearance), but I think I'm going to try something a little different.
I have $900 on hand. The repair is $1000. I'm actually expeting this to go to $1200 (The estimate seemed to be for parts only). I'll have $1350 on hand come Friday.
They'll fix the truck on Monday, I have three days after the repair to pay for it, that's Wednesday. I'll write a check on Wednesday and float that baby to Friday.
For the first time ever, my parents (who are chiping in some cash) are asking for it back. This is something that I found out ONLY my family does. In our family, if I ever needed money, all I had to do was ask. It was given, and no payback was ever expected. And Vice-Versa, I was the same way. If you ever needed money (and I could afford it), it was given with no expectation of it back, ever. This lead to some financial tension between Dean (who keeps tabs) and I (who doesn't). :)
Sadly, my parents have fallen on some hard times in the last few weeks, but are STILL chipping in cash, but need it back. I really feel for them. They're really helping me out on this. I feel really good about our future.
