Today was my penultimate day at work. It began pretty badly, but evened out over the day, and it ended on a good note. I'm definately gonna miss this place. For all the dramatics of the last month, with the moved up layoff and the raise that never happened, this really was an AwesomeJob. One of the best I've ever had. If I'm not able to find work in Texas over the layoff, I'll be happy to take the job back come December.

I'm getting my art groove back. Honestly, I've had it back repeatedly, but every week, when I'd sit down to draw, I'd get news that would destroy my mood and keep me from drawing. I'm hoping I can have a comic this week - honestly, there's no reason not to...I'll have the time.

The plan as it's coming. I'm going to be laid off, not on the 23rd, but the 20th. I've also been told the layoff period is eight weeks. The plan as it stands:

OCT 20th, last day of work.
OCT 21st, apply for unemployment. Receive penultimate paycheck.
OCT 22nd-27th, take it easy, look for work in Texas, relax, unwind.
OCT 28th, Receive last paycheck.
OCT 29-30, see 22nd-27th
OCT 31-NOV 2nd, Day of the Dead holiday.
NOV 3rd, pack for Texas
NOV 4th, fly back to Texas.

I'll be gambling on where I'll end up in Texas, since flying standby means taking any flight I can get back home. I'll either end up in Austin or San Antonio, but it'll boil down to one of two scenarios:

Two weeks in Austin, Two weeks in San Antonio.
One week in San Antonio, Two weeks in Austin, One week in San Antonio.

I'll also be looking for work and doing interviews while I'm down there. The conditions on keeping the Texas job would have to be:

1) Pays as much as AwesomeJob (With raise)
2) Permanent position, not temp
3) Trans-friendly

Should I find work, all plans are dropped - I fly straight back to Seattle, pack up everything, stuff it all in the pickup (anything not fitting in the pickup is put into storage to retrieve later), and drive home hoping the pickup doesn't fall apart.

Should I NOT find work....

DEC 5th, fly back to Seattle.
DEC 6th-14th(or possibly as late as the 17th), take it easy, get geared up for going back to work, work on moving documentation from Texas to Washington.
DEC 18, begin work at AwesomeJob.

Sometime in January 2011, buy a new truck. Deliver the old one to Dad.

I no longer really trust my judgment to make good decisions in my life, and tarot readings all say "Disaster No Matter What." I only hope I can keep the damage quotent down.
