Anyone out there have a copy of the A Few Cards Shy video of "Big Boy?" The one with the Super MArio 1 run through? I thought I had it saved...seems I don't. Alas.
Compared to yesterday, today was a cake walk, and I even got paid! Current bank balance: $1,163.52. Mind you, only a $56 profit this week, but still above the $1,000 mark!
So I was just sitting around taking with friends when I found an NES site, which led me to an SNES site...which reminded me of something I'd wanted for a while. SNES to PC pads.
Say what you want about your mega controllers, and joysticks with analogue controls and 17 button monstrosities. The best game pad in the entire universe was the Super Nintendo "milkbone" pad. I used to have these GREAT Parallel Port SNES adapters for the PC, but they were made before the world of Direct X, and when Direct X came out, my cables were obsolete.
So I bit my lip, and got a Gravis Game Pad...those things SUCK. The controllers have ALWAYS been too loose. I've given up on true DOS mode games, too (well, now we have DOSBox...), so I upgrade to Gravis USB controllers.
However...suddenly...I come across this: http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=207&products_id=4234&
And BOOM - there is was. USB SNES->PC adapters. HOT DAMN! I bought two (for two player games). I looked around for some pristine SNES game pads...I was seeing piles and piles of these things for years and simply couldn't find any. At least any I trusted. I really would have liked to have Nintendo made ones...3rd party controllers tend to suck. But since I couldn't find any, I bought controllers from the same company. Hope they're as good as the Nintendo ones.
So a few hours after I buy the ports and controllers, on a completely different subject, I'm on the Nintendo web site...and there they are:
(Big ass URL)
$16 a piece?! SIXTEEN?
Well, believe it or not, I would have paid that price...but...we'll see how the...$3 Lik Sang Suck O Tronic controllers work. :)
::can't wait to play MK2 on MAME with SNES pads!::
