Gee, I hate all these Star Wars.
Jul. 20th, 2004 02:06 amYou know, I do my best to try and be an open an communicative webcomic artist. Through the years most of the people I've looked up to were really distant, and in one case downright hostile. Only one has actually done his best to stay on-the-level with his fans, in the trenches with them (Babylon 's JMS). I'm doing my best to stay on that level with my fans as well. All four of them.
However, for the first time, I've blocked a fan. This one has been nothing but nice and sweet, although VERY sycophantic about it, and our first conversation was this person bowing down and prostrating herself at my feet.
I've done my best through this to try and be nice and appreciative and supportive and even try to steer her away from this worship she has for me. But today, when she said "Love You." That got wierd. Very wierd. I've always gotten "creepy" vibes off this person, and I should have listened to them in the first place. But that was just wierd. And when she got mad when I asked her if she was joking...well...that was REALLY creepy. And I decided I'd had enough. I hate sycophantism, but when trying to steer someone away from that leads to Those Words, Game Over man...Game over.
Lots to do yet. I need to renew my driver's license. I have in irrational fear of police, not because I'm trans or because they're authority figured, but because someone out there is running around with my old name and social security card. I'm always half expecting to be arrested for something I didn't do. I'm also worried that I have a contempt of court warrant out because I didn't go to jury duty. Not because I deliberately ignored a letter, but because I haven't lived at the address on my card for three years.
Then I found out you can renew your license online. This is kinda important to me because (1) If I can get it done online, then there's nothing out there I need to worry about and (2) if there IS something out there, I can still fly out to Trinoc on my Still Good license, and face whatever when I get back AFTER it expires (it expires ont he 26th). It's prolly all in my head, but there's an awful lot of Law & Order in my head, too.
I also need to distill the 17 disk set of Star Wars Radio Dramas to MP3. It'll be easier to lug around a 750MB of MP3 instead of 17 CDs to Trinoc. Lots of in-the-air time to listen.
So what do I do? I completely forget to bring (1)My driver's license to get renewed, and (2) The CD cable toread the CDs. Oy...
However, I did at least MANAGE to start distilling the CDs down.
Using one of the LEad computers (the only ones that are actual (Dell Computers and not souped up cashregisters), I used my USBdrive to run a CD ripping program, and then an ausio editor to push the volume up on these sets (they're REALLY low volume). Once the 512MB USB drive gets full, it gets dumped on the laptop. Wonders of modern technology. :)
I really hope I can get my license renewed over the net. It would save a LOT of headaches.
