Karmic Flipside
Aug. 3rd, 2004 05:09 amOy oy oy.
One week after Trinoc, I karmically paid for the good time I had.
After Trinoc, I had $1000.
Yesterday, while driving down to San Antonio to see the family, my truck had a blowout. Sadly, my spare hadn't been fixed. I was saving that for after the con. So instead of going to SA, I ended up getting towed ($60) and spending the night just sitting and watching my birthday movies.
Today, I only got four hours of sleep (I've been up WAY too long), and immediately went to the Post Office to pick up my other birthday resent, a new monitor. I grabbed the monitor and plugged the DVI plug in, only to find streaks and streaks and streaks of redlines everywhere. Plugging the VGA plug in gave me a massively blurry nasty picture.
Needless to say I was pissed. The whole reason I got this DVI monitor was to get a sharper picture than my original LCD monitor could give me. And here we are, with an even worse picture.
I mamanged to narrow down the problem to the supremely crappy GeForce 4 card I bought. I didn't buy this card from the place I trust, but from the place that was open at the time. I ended up having to get ANOTHER video card ($70) plugging that in and my monitor became crystal clear. 19 Inches of crisp clean video. MK2 on this thing looks so LOVELY.
So, out I went with my spare and my blowout, and had them both replaced ($120). After dropping them off, I had my laptop repaired, and picked up the tires. From 9AM-4PM I was out in the sun all day. :P
I finally managed to slow down, take a shwoer and relax about 6PM.
After picking Dean up, I bought $100 in groceries.
Man, my wallet feels a whole lot lighter.....
