SATURDAY
Lots of fun at Erin's handfasting reception, met lots of cool people there, and a few who I was connected to that I didn't realize:

Throm knows Iqtech whom I've known for years....

Ubiquity had a girlfriend named Lorelei. Lorelei was on Forum 2000 as Ayn Rand, Forum 2000's Ayn Rand was someone Dean and I turned into our own personal meme. Supposedly, Ubiquity is some sort of Causal Nexus like Kevin Bacon.

A nice time was had by all, especially me. I was a little worried that this would actually BE the handfasting, and even with a little training on that side of the fense, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to actually DO something. Wasn't the case, though - just a little LJ social. :)

I've always thought of myself as a shut-in, but ever since the Con, I've realized that a lot of fun can be had by going out. I figured that a lot of the heckling I've gotten and the 2001 Fest-a-rama that was my living with my parents kinda made me a bit paranoid of the outide world. But the con really got me to realize that it wans't a FEAR of the public keeping me from doing stuff. I really enjoyed myself. So I made it a point to go to this reception, and again, had a great time.

I really need to get out more. At least to "managed" affairs. :)

MONDAY
O, man...a four hour sleep SUCKS. But I took off for San Antonio, and got there with time to spare. One quick doctor's visit and a mention that I had no insurance, and my doctor gave me every high blood pressure sample he could find. I also got a hormone shot. My first in almost a year. :) Didn't expect him to do that on the first visit back, but, well, I ain't complaining.

I'm also keeping tabs on what I'm being charged for stuff, because I plan to post it on the comics. I don't think I'll ever really NEED to hold the comics hostage for hormones...but...well...it could really help out if I got donations. Right now, my projected Monthly bill is about $400 ($75 for Hormones, $200 for Spiro, $125 for everything else...just guestimates because I didn't get the full Spiro order, or any of the heart meds). I CAN afford this, but every little bit helps.

The rest of the day was spent doing a little sightseeing. I drove all the way down to Poteet and surveyed some of the Camino Real stuff I'd been mapping. I found Red Barn road, but no sign of any markers there (there shold have been one, but I'm sure it's been moved because Bexar county has one extra marker than it should), from there I looked for the next few markers and found them.

#86 and 89 were fine and dandy. #87 was nowhere to be found. After talking with some locals, it seems there was a huge car accident there a few months ago, the car managed to pull the marker from it's roots, where it was lying on it's side for a few weeks, and was then stolen. #88 has graffitti painted all over it, and is now on private property. I did talk with the property owner who seemed REALLY REALLY protective of the marker, only let me take two pics, then told me to leave. #90 is overgrown with weeds, and had lots of moss covering it. The good news is, now I know where a lot of the right of way is here in Bexar County and my map will get a little more accurate. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, go here and here.

From there, it was SUPPOSED to be dinner at the Tower of the Americas (I wanted a good shot from inside the restaurant, looking out to the city. But I was running WAY short of time, so I just parked and got ready to dump all the OSR Marker pics onto the laptop. Turns out that I didn't install the stupid camera software or even a graphics program on my laptop. So I fuigred, I have 40 pics. I should have another 8 left. Got in the elevator, and up to the top of the tower, only to find out my camera was reporting "full."

The bastard.

So I ended up having to delete all the pics of the markers (including the one where the woman shooed me off her property). But I filled the camera with other shots of the tower, the insides, outsides and (GULP) down. Those down pics freaked me out. I was hanging the camera over the side leaned over as far out as the metal bars would let me, and DIDN'T LOOK DOWN.

But I got them. I'll be using them soon. I also got lots of pics of the Hemisfair park area, too, all to be used as "plate" shots for an upcoming strip or two. I got home after picing up Gwen's sticker, puttered around, and passed out for 15 hours. :)

Worth it. :)

What's funny about [livejournal.com profile] ubiquity being some kind of nexus or focal point is her own user name...

It means "the state of being everywhere at once (or seeming to be everywhere at once)" according to a google define: search. :)

She really does live up to her name. She's more connected than Kevin Bacon.

Jen, I hope you get to go out some more. :) The real world can be fun at times, though stressful. There's much to see out there. :)
