I knew it was going to be a bad day when I woke up. I tend to wake up at 3PM on the dot, but todya, it was a complete struggle to get out of bed at 4:30. My head was pounding, I could feel veins in my neck pulsing with each heartbeat. THis was not a good sign: Migraines.

I don't get migraines a lot, maybe to or three times a year, and they're not migraines in the sense everyone else gets (blinding pain, sensitivity to light), but usually a really bad sensitivity to sound and an extremely "loud" throbbing in the area just behind my eyes. Urination left and right. Feeling extremely hot, while my skin is really cold.

I really miscalculted it when I woke up, though. I thought it was just dehydration from the anti-testosterone pills I take...so I drank lots of water, and got ready for work. When I got in the shower I still had a slight headache, but felt that the with some more water I'd be okay.

A couple of workstresses that I'll go into later turned that slight headache to a mind numbing sledge hammer to the back of my eyes. I so desperately wanted to call in sick, but we're understaffed at night as it is, and we got swamped. By the time I felt like coming around to thinking about going home, most of my shift was over.

After relaxing a bit, having my lunch, my headache went away mostly, and just went to a dull throb...and that's when I freaked.

I was reading a webpage when there was a face in the monitor screen looking back at me with glowing white eyes. After a couple of blinks, I realized it was just the reflection of the overhead arc lights, but was the sign I had something really wrong in my head.

A lot of people who suffer from migraines get hallucinations, and I luckily hardly ever get that far, but today was all different. I hadn't had a hallucination like that in a LONG TIME. Maybe even High School. Basically, if my migraine goes on long enough, anytime my eyes see two lights that look roughly the same, it "renders" that in my head as a face with the lights as eyes.

And let me tell you, I don't like those images at all.

It's one of those things where your brain TELLS you that what you're seeing isn't there, but your heart just doesn't give a damn and tells it it needs adrenaline NOW.

On the drive home, nothing is scarier than seeing a long line of faces with red eyes driving away from you, white eyes coming at you, and the occasional red/yellow/green set hovering over you while going through stoplights.

Towards the end, lights began to "flare." If a stoplight came into view, the green light would "flare" into existence before settling down to the right color.

Man, I hope it goes away tomorrow.

Wow, that sucks a tremendous amount! I saw a recent study (was it swiss or swedish or something else entirely???) that postulates that women get more migraines than men because of an effect that estrogen has on blood vessels in general and on the capillaries in the brain specifically. They proved their theory by examining the incidence of migraines in a population of MTF women, who reported a higher incidence of migraines post-transition and at a closer percentage to the normal incidence in bio-women than in bio-men.

Thought you'd find that interesting. Not the least bit comforting or encouraging, but interesting....

I hope you feel much better and survive the evil retail work of hell... and mucho credit to your boss for understanding...

I wouldn't doubt it at all. Although I've been getting these migraines pre hormones. I do admit, they've gotten more ferquent since I started them, though.

Ugh!

My friend samael7 (on Xanga) has been having a lot of migraines in the last several days. Sign of the impending apocalpyse?

I think you and Jenn spelling Jenn the same way is yet another sign of the conspiracy that the Illuminati is using Death Mind Rays to hasten the apocolypse by incapacitating the intelligentsia with migraines...

You don't know the half of it... how about the fact

proposals 10 years ago?

WE ARE THE JENN CONSPIRACY - BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA.

Do you take things for it? If you do, the Advil Migraine stuff is pretty good and pretty fast-acting (its liquid ibuprofen, and almost instantaneously absorbed)

I usually take Nuprin when these things come up...but last night it didn't really help.
