I have a memory of the first house I lived in being built. But that happened about six months before I was born. Definitely not a real memory.
I do have a memory of laying in my bassonet-made-crib looking at the ceiling as I was being rocked. According to mom, that was within the first six months of being born, because they bought mw a real crib around that time.

That said, I've been related incidents from 6-18 months with such frequency and specificity that it's hard to say whether they're real or "implanted" memories. E.g. I *might* remember asking "Mother, what's a mottle?" at age 1.5 (mottle = my phonetic rendering of 'motel'). But I may simply have been told the story enough times to have constructed the scenario in my mind. I most certainly do NOT remember the "testing" my parents did thereafter, in which I supposedly identified a red octagon as "an octagon" and the word "STOP" as "S-T-O-P, stop!"
