Feb. 24th, 2012 01:03 amI've always been fascinated with ancient history. From the First Dynasty of Egypt, to Alexander's empire, to the Roman Kingdom, Republic, Empire (Western and Eastern).
It's kinda wormed it's way into some of my stories. Iskander in AWFW is meant to be a rogue Alexander the Great. Dana's predicament in Voices of Authority is one part myth about a Roman Legion lost in China, and one part historically verifiable Indo-Greek Kingdom.
While I'm pretty well aware of the mythology of Egyptian, Roman and Greek Gods, for some reason, it wasn't until recently that those Gods are actually parts of an actual religion with its own practices and rituals (duh, Jenn, only took you twenty some years to make that connection).
And now fascinated with trying to learn all anythign I can about all those neat practices. Sadly, a lot of them were secret religions, or mystery religions, which means when they died out, so did their rites.
Still, what we still have is REALLY fascinating. :)
So tell me more about this...Vesta....
