This morning's dialogue line in my head:

"I don't understand it...but I accept it."

"Acceptance alone, in this case, isn't enough. I see fear behind those gorgeous green eyes of yours. Fear from not understanding, not knowing. And fear is a terrible way to start up a friendship."

After a day of letting the characters talk it over:

CARRIE
"I don't get it...but that's okay!
(proudly)
"I accept you with an open heart and mind."

HEIDI
"That's not enough. In this case, acceptance alone isn't enough. Behind those gorgeous green eyes of yours there's fear. Fear from not understanding. Not knowing.

"And I put it there. When we first met. And for that, again, I'm sorry. But if we're going to make this work, you have to not only accept, but understand, and know why I do what I do."

CARRIE
"But it's okay! It's just not my...thing! And anyways, you're different."

HEIDI
"I'm not one whit different than--
"I got it. Get your coat on, I need to show you something."

CARRIE
(jokingly, slyly
like she's in on an
inside joke)
"Is that an order?"

HEIDI
(deadly serious)
"No. But if this is going to work...then you need to come with me."
