As we quickly come to the decision date, there are two futures in front of me. One in Washington, one in Texas.
The Washington plan has actually been setup for quite a while, since we got the Redmond house:
1) Live there until the lease runs out.
2) Move to either:
a) An apartment in Snoqualmie
b) An apartment in Renton
3) Save up for a small house/property in Snoqualmie or North Bend.
4) Live happily ever after, or some reasonable facsimile thereof.
The Texas plan, though, was much hazier, since there are a lot of factors open. Still, general stuff is forming up:
1) Live here until the lease runs out.
2) Geri's four rules of survival:
-a) Move back to texas, living with friends in Austin.
-b) Find a job
-c) Find your own place to live (preferably near work)
-d) Find a better job
It's here that things begin to get fuzzy.
3) Save up money/go into debt to
-a) ...buy 1.5 acres of land (or the original 9.5 acres) around my proprty to qualify to build.
-b) ...find a way to build on just the half acre of land.
4) Save up money/go into debt to build a house on the land
5) Live in Austin, and use the new house as a place for my parents to live. Or as a vacation retreat.
6) Retire to same house at retirement age, or if I ever get a work-from-home job.
That's one way...it could also go:
3) Sell property, to buy cheaper property elsewhere.
4) Save up money/go into debt to build a house on the land
5) Live in Austin, and use the new house as a place for my parents to live. Or as a vacation retreat.
6) Retire to same house at retirement age, or if I ever get a work-from-home job.
And somewhere in there, I would also like my surgery as well...the problem simply boils down to money. Smaller every day stuff is easy. The slightly more expensive creature comforts are doable, if they're not done all the time. But the big money issues, the land, the house, the surgery...that's all got to come from somewhere.
My biggest fear is that most of my hopes and dreams and wants are unaffordable at my income level which may cap off at a certain age level. We'll see what happens. Can't take the third step without doing the second....
