Major problem - the scanner is acting the way it did years ago, where xsane is causing the stepper motor on the scanner to freak out only occasionally making a successful scan. This is doupleplusnotgood as it burned out a scanner and swore me off Linux for many years some time ago. Didn't seem to be a problem in Ubuntu, though. For now, I can scan as long as I unplug the scanner as soon as I hear the stepper motor whining, though...
