Aug. 1st, 2013 04:23 amSo, The Austin Plan shifts gears a bit, but not completely....
I have a job now, 90 days, good pay, possibility of being hired on, but VERY slim. I have another job available, not as much pay, but wouldbe permanent. I've already accepted the 90 day job. I'll know something by next week on the permanent one.
Should the permanent job dissapear, I'll be saving as much cash as I possibly can for that 90 days, and get an apartment in Hyde Park (it's literally walking distance from the apartment I'm looking at). It's more expensive than staying in Jollyville, but the pay will make up for that (at least in the short run), and should I get the permament job, I'll have it made.
Now, if I get offered the permanent job, I'll take that instead, although I can't afford the Hyde Park apartment on what they'll pay. Again, I'll save as much as I can for as long as I can, then get an apartment here in Jollyville.
While there is a downside to the Hyde PArk issue (what if you go 90 days and LOSE the job?), it looks to be a fairly strong win-win situation! Now if the other job will hurry up and tell me yay or nay.
