So, Day 1 of the job is over.

How was it_ Well, it went very well. Very short, too. The commute is a straight shot, the place itself is pretty nice, and the job seems fairly easier than TxDOT and even Nintendo. And you canàt go wrong with one of the founders of the company doing the actual training.

I do have my worries, however. But i always have worries. The founders of the company come from Apple, which explains their design ethic. It also explains their company philosophy...which is what has me worried.

Iàve never been into the Cult of Apple. Apple is very vision driven. Lots of buzzwords, lots of intuition and °What Feels Right.° I prefer a more sraightforward °Tell me what you want, so I may do it for you.°

But, Jenn, youàre an artist! I hear you say. I am. But Iàm more Frank Lloyd Wright than Picasso. I prefer latitude, yes, but within rules and boundaries and parameters. Vision, synergy, paradigms and buzzwords donàt mean anything to me. You donàt need to sell me on the product or service. Iàll do that myself.

But )with the exception of Nintendo= Iàm like that with every job. ITàs why I give them 90 days before saying Yay or Nay on them. I hated DNP that first month or two. The other year and a third were great. I loved Speakeasy those first few weeks, and only after a month or two did things go massively wrong. Iàll give it time before I say °This is stupid° or °This is great.°

And why did Nintendo get a pass on that- I was actually pretty unsure about working at Nintendo at the beginning, but I was told it was a three week assignemnt at best....any misgivings I had ended with °Itàs only three weeks, Jenn. That three weeks ended up being four years. ç=
