Feb. 9th, 2014 03:06 amI did a small quick sketch for a friend the other day, who told me it was a real honor. Before that, Shannon at a friend's birthday party, and Ashley Eriksson at the show at The Owl skimmed through my sketchbook, also saying they were honored I'd share it with them...
...I've always found that strange. My sketches and comics never came across as anything special. They're just something I do. I write because I feel I should, and I draw because I feel I should. I just...do them. when people think it's special...I just don't feel they are.
But I do appreciate the sentiment, and do what I can to thank folks for it. When Debra invited me to the first Trinoc, I didn't go to make sales, or to show off art. I went because a lot of people seemed to like the comics, and I wanted to meet them. That was my thank you to my readers in and around North Carolina for reading.
I just never understood "why" they liked them, or why they were special...
