About a month before I left Seattle, I hit some major financial difficulties. The Great White Elephant pickup my dad had left me was sucking my finances dry, money was hemmoraging from my bank account covering last minute setups for the move. Unlike the move to Seattle, where I had $1000 in cash and another $2500 in credit, I'd be going home with pennies to spare. And as we got closer, I eventually over spent what I had to spend.
I despair a lot. I admit that. You've probably read more than your fair share of despair from me. And, as I'm wont to to do to get it out of my system, I posted about the crap going on.
I'm sitting in my cube, probably playing Street Fighter on my 3DS waiting for the next call, when security throws me an EMail. They found something of mine and I need to come pick it up. Checking my pockets for anything I'm missing, I walked over to the security desk. They handed me an envelope addressed to me. Confused, I opened it.
It was a card with $300 in it.
Someone anonymously signed the card "Keep Austin Wierd."
I have no idea who did it. I still don't. I actually don't want to know - it may ruin the magicalness of that moment. But that person reads, or has read, my Facebook at one time or another. If that person is reading, thank you. If you know that person, thank them for me.
In the end, it made a sad parting much sweeter. :)
