When you're tired of writing cover letters, pick an in-demand skill you're missing and read everything you can about it. Apply for a few wildly random jobs in other industries that pique your interest. Make sure those cover letters are particularly entertaining reading. Try to find small companies where you can contact the hiring manager directly and impress him without facing the HR hurdle. Then take a walk. Don't take a drive, that costs money. Then come home and watch your favorite show. Then sleep as long as you need and start again the next day. Don't hold out hope for a "perfect" job to reply. The perfect one will be the one that actually does.
