Sad, because I liked Eccleston from what little I've seen.

This presents a continuity crisis.

The Doctor had just regenerated when he got mixed up with the Autons again.

He had clearly been involved with the Kennedy Assassination, Krakatoa, et c.

His backup will still be with him when he regenerates again, meaning it won't be more than about one year between regenerations and all his major periods of activity are well accounted for.

So either there needs to be something of a break where he did things without Rose for awhile, he did all these things in Eccleston's one season of wonder, or we have the next largest embarrassment since the second place called Atlantis was destroyed...

I don't think he has to do those things without Rose. Just because she wasn't mentioned or pictured doesn't mean she wasn't involved. They could easily be 'missing adventures' that happened between episodes. Prime material for novels.

I'm not sure if this is confirmed or not, but Rose was going to leave in the last episode "The Parting of Ways." So there's still some time to the next Doctor.

Grr! I was really hopeful about Eccleston. I like what he brought to the character in 'Rose'.
